Beechams cold and flu while pregnant?

I took a sachet of this earlier today after reading the accompanying leaflet, I thought it was safe as there was no reference to pregnancy. However afterwards I noticed on the sachet that it says if pregnant 'consult your doctor'.

Anyone know anything about this?

What is in it apart from paracetamol?

I think as it just contains paracetamol and not ibruprofen you should be ok. But I'm not an expert. Check with your midwife if your worried.

Not advisable in first trimester and should consult a doctor afterwards. I wouldn't worry about one sachet though

It contains a decongestant called phenylephrine which you are not supposed to take in pregnancy. But one sachet is really not an issue. With flu/colds it's "advisable" to stick to plain paracetamol and natural remedies like homemade honey and lemon and inhaled Albas oil. I think with most of these things it's because they remain untested on pregnant women thet err on side of caution, but you'd probably need to take loads for there to be any adverse side effects. But it's just safer to avoid altogether

Thanks for your advice.

I have only had the one sachet so not overly concerned. Though now I'm worrying I've had too much paracetamol as I've read you shouldn't have it more than 2-3 times a week, and I've been taking it about 3 times a day.

I would just give your midwife a ring or gp and see what they say Smile
