She has had a stressful pregnancy. She has had bleeding problems from the start but every scan has showed that baby & placenta is ok. She is now just 24 weeks and has been losing fluid since 1pm today. She says she can still feel it moving around.

I am out of my mind with worry. The baby will be too little to stand a good chance of survival.Sad

She likes a trashy mag so I have bought her a couple to take round when I visit her.

Just read that 60-70% of pprom patients will deliver in less than a week & 80% in less than a month. Feeling really worried nowSad

I googled myself silly with all 3 of mine and it really doesn't help, you have just got to take a day at a time- today she is closer to 25 weeks which is a step in the right direction- easier said then done, I know I have been there.

Maybe worth your sister taking a good pregnancy multi vit to help keep her immune system up.

Thinking of you and your family and keeping everything crossed. X

If they have given steroids and antibiotics the baby is being given the best chance he/ she can x still keeping my fingers crossed for u all and sending big hugs x thinking of u all x x

Good luck to your sister - I know a girl born at 24 weeks, such a worry. Now she's 8 and fighting fit. She was under 2lb at birth. No sign of any problems at all now.

Pinkchampagne · 04/02/2012 13:35

Thank you. It is all a huge worry. I am checking up on her all the time! Going to see her later. Taking her some magazines, grapes, bottles of water & some probiotic drinks. Might see if we can also pick them up some easy to cook meals, seen as her DH is now in charge of the cooking!

Been to seemy sister. She has lost a little more fluid today. When scanned her fluid was 3.7 if anyone can make sense of that

OP posts:
VivaLeBeaver · 04/02/2012 23:44

Normal fluid levels are between 8 and 18. Good to hear baby is hanging on.

VickityBoo · 04/02/2012 23:45

I don't know about the fluid count but baby is still staying put which is good.

I hope your sister is okay generally...being stuck in hospital is boring even if there are worries and concerns going on.

Pinkchampagne · 05/02/2012 10:55

She is home now, VicketyBoo.

She was pleased to see us last night, but apparently she got very upset after we left last night & was on the verge of a panic attack. Think it all suddenly hit her hard and she felt very out of control.Sad

She was told by the consultant to probably expect to deliver within a week or two. This has really frightened her.

Wishing her all the best, pink

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 05/02/2012 12:39

Still thinking of u all at this difficult time x hang in there little baby fight with everything u have x hugs x

Pinkchampagne · 05/02/2012 12:46

Thank you both. She is so frightened. She cannot even read up on it atm as it scares her. She was meant to be scanned again on Wednesday but now they are saying they will do it the following Wed. I think my BIL is going to kick up a bit of a fuss about this.

Thinking of you all. I've been following the thread since the start. I followed the thread that was started by Badnails too that was quite recent. It was a similar situation with a happy outcome.

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 05/02/2012 13:07

I hope he does hon they can't leave it that long between scans if they r expecting the baby soon they would never pick up any new developements x last thing u all need is a fight with doctors when ur trying to help and support ur sister. big hugs x

MABS · 05/02/2012 13:18

what does her community midwife say? x

amymouse · 05/02/2012 14:21

3.7 is below the range of normal, but it is not stupidly low/critical. Obviously it is horrifically worrying for you all especially your sister and BIL but if you can take heart from the fact they have sent her home. If they thought the baby was in immenent danger, they would either keep her in hospital or dicuss the possibility of delivering straight away. And they certainly wouldn't wait over a week for another scan, thought if nothing else but for her own sanity, scanning sooner is probably a good idea! As long as there is still SOME fluid, the placenta is working well, the baby's kidneys are working, she is still feeling movement and they both stay infection free, there is no reason why she cannot "cook" further. Some people believe that drinking lots and lots of water helps to replenish waters, although this isn't solid fact but it will help to remain hydrated. Good luck to her x

Pinkchampagne · 05/02/2012 15:13

She has been signed off from her community midwife but apparently she phoned her a couple of days ago. She said she couldn't believe it had happened to her as it is pretty uncommon & that even though she has been signed off, she could ring her with any concerns.

She has been drinking quite a bit & even though she loses a little fluid every 48 hours or so, she is sure her bump looks bigger than it did on Monday when it happened, so fingers crossed some of the fluid is staying around the baby.

I leaked for 7 weeks. All was well; baby delivered at 37 w.

Pinkchampagne · 06/02/2012 15:42

Good to hear all went well for you, CS. It was a week ago today that my sister's membranes ruptured. Just hoping she can keep that little baby inside for as long as possible
