She has had a stressful pregnancy. She has had bleeding problems from the start but every scan has showed that baby & placenta is ok. She is now just 24 weeks and has been losing fluid since 1pm today. She says she can still feel it moving around.

I am out of my mind with worry. The baby will be too little to stand a good chance of survival.Sad

Thank you.Smile

My sister lost more water in the night. She says about an egg cup full, but there can't be much left in her. Midwife was not too worried though & said it is to be expected, but my sister is a bit fed up as it hadn't happened for 48 hours

ilovesprouts · 02/02/2012 09:40

I met a woman in hospital who had lost fluid at 24 weeks but they kept her in on forced bedrest, she had so far got to 30 weeks.
Prayers and thought for family

whersmycaffeinedrip sorry to hear you were dealt with so inappropriete and carelessly. So lovely to hear your daughter is 1yr old and doing well.
Pinkchampagne how is your sister doing, is she getting support from her midwife and is she due to go back for a repeat scan in two weeks?

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 02/02/2012 13:28

Sorry, have been at work.

Believe it or not, my sister has been discharged & is now home. Apparently her bloods were ok so they said she could go home today. They also said the leak she had overnight was to be expected, so didn't seem too concerned.

She has to go for a scan sometime next week & has to take her temp & take her antibiotics several times a day. I hope she takes it easy at home.

I was discharged too (after my 22w pprom), It's quite normal :) Your sister is probably better off in her own home as long as she is vigilant re signs of infection.

How long did you manage to hold on for after your pprom, Methe?

10 days with DD (30w)

5 weeks with DS (22w) :)

Lots of women stay pregnant for longer than that! I think its getting past the first couple of days thats the challenge. I have a friend who's ppromed 3 times at around 28w and has got infected immediately and had to deliver. I have never got infected, with DD I just went in to labour and with DS I had an abruption so he was evicted.

That inkan link kept me sane when I was on bedrest after the prom with ds. There are some really great stories of hope on there.

mrsallcock · 02/02/2012 17:12

pinkchampagne it sounds like the hospital is keeping an eye on your sister, so that is good. I'm going to check out those websites methe suggested.

Pinkchampagne · 02/02/2012 18:27

Wow, you did well, Methe!Smile

I sent my sister both of those links. She said they looked interesting but atm she is not feeling strong enough to read them. She has been upset again today with the reality of her situation. She is very tired too, as didn't sleep hardly at all in hospital. She had a sleep when she got home this afternoon though.

BIL has been out & bought her a something to listen to baby's heartbeat. She has to take her temp & her antibiotics 4 times a day & is due back for a scan next Wednesday.

I leaked small amounts continually after my waters had gone (for all 3 pregnancies 27w, 22w, 18w) Which was a good sign as it showed that waters were still being produced- my fluids were really low, I just stayed on virtual bed rest didn't go very far and drank lots of fluids. Mine were born at 36/35 weeks and were fine the 2 boys had to spend a few days in NICU but wasn't overly serious.

With the last pprom at 18 weeks we were told there was no chance of survival and that if he was born before 24 weeks then they wouldn't give him any treatment- he's a big bruiser of an 18 month old now!

Sending big hugs as I know how terribly stressful it is- all my family were so worried.

Pinkchampagne · 02/02/2012 22:37

Thank you, bump4. Stories like yours give us hope.Smile

hunny , sounds like she is doing very well, the hospital are watching her, she must try to rest and eat well though. take care x

Pinkchampagne · 03/02/2012 08:28

I have just messaged her to see how she is doing this morning. She said she is ok but didn't sleep much again due to worry.

I am hoping to get over and see her at the weekend. I want to take some things with me for her. Any suggestions?

Box sets, books, Belgian buns! Glad your sis is still pregnant, every day counts :) x

Pinkchampagne · 03/02/2012 14:57

Thanks.Smile

She is now over the first 72 hours, which are apparently the most risky for immediate labour but every day is still so full of worry.
