I have a minging, wheezy cough and someone suggested that it may be caused by my minging heartburn? Anyone else found this link? I'm 38 weeks pregnant...

Yes, horrible feeling. Try an antacid (gaviscon) and if that doesn't help get your GP to prescribe Omeprazole. You don't need to suffer in silence, acid reflux can be managed.

I've just been googling it, and it seems there is a link - I'd never have guessed! Have a bottle of Gaviscon on the go, and I'm seeing the midwife tomorrow so I'll see if I can get something stronger! Thanks.

I am due on Wed and have had a cough and sore throat for weeks. Dr said it could be acid reflux and prescribed Ranitidine which took 3 days to work but has made a massive difference. Worth asking about that as well.

Yes! I had this pre-pregnancy too with GERD. The cough makes me sound like an old man & DH is aways Hmm when i'm coughing away. I'm taking ranitidine, gaviscon, rennie - you name it for the indigestion. GP wouldn't prescribe me omeprazole for some reason.

my doctor made the same link too. this crappy cough from 5 weeks ago and heartburn. you just cant catch a break can you?

My midwife suggested that I drink some water to neutralise the heartburn! It made me so mad... she needs a science lesson and a dose of pregnancy indigestion cos a sip of water isn't going to do ANYTHING! Baby due in 2 days. When I have my final appointment with the midwife, I'm going to tell her NEVER to tell a pregnant woman that water can cure heartburn! ARGH!

Absolutely yes, & I second getting a prescription for Omeprazole. I wouldn't be without it.
