Blood in urine twice and no one cares

I'm 39 weeks today and twice at antenatal appointments there have been traces of blood in my urine. I'm pretty sure that I've got an UTI because I have a lot of "burning" feeling when I pass urine and in my vagina in general. Midwives are not bothered with it though and did not even send a sample for testing Hmm I insisted and insisted and they keep saying it's probably just contamination i.e. blood coming from my cervix as I'm so near my due date. I am VERY frustrated about being fobbed off every time and quite pissed that they didn't even record it in my notes. I feel they write the notes to cover their backs rather than to give a true picture of what's going on. I don't know what to do.

Was it just blood ?? I've had 3 uti's now and it came with protein and lucocytes as well (which is think its the uti deal breaker one) ??? If you feel the burning call her.. They arnt the safest things during pregnancy good luck xxx

No it's just blood. That's probably why they're bothered but still think that they should offer a routine urine sample. Then again I had "slight swelling" written on my notes when I can hardly move my feet and legs and no one seems to care.

Have you been to your GP? I would say bypass the MWs and go see your GP.

At the very least you might have cystitis and the GP will be able to talk to you about thisSmile

I would also say go to your GP, even if just to put your mind at rest....

For a uti I would def expect to see either/or leucocytes & nitrates (im a final year student nurse) but could be a touch of cystitis and if you are having other symptoms and are worried don't hesitate to see GP.
