Can someone comment on whether the feelings in my tummy are baby or wind?! I'm 21 weeks and not felt definite movements yet.

Things that make me think they are:-

  • they feel like I would imagine a kick would feel - like a gentle jabbing
  • they mostly occur when I'm resting. I never get anything during the day, but could be coz I'm so busy and wouldn't notice

Things that make me think it's wind:-

  • I'm pretty windy at the best of times and even worse in pregnancy!!!
  • Theyre often in the same places in my tummy
  • I can rarely feel them internally, but feel them on the outside when I put my hand on my tummy
  • They normally occur after eating

??!

Does it feel a bit like popcorn popping?

The first movements are usually felt when you're quiet.

Aw! Yes, this is what the first movements feel like - like wind but nothing comes out IYKWIM Blush or it feels a bit like your tummy when it doers flip flops, when you're nervous.

It does start to feel like proper prods and kicks when they get bigger!

Ooh, it's a wonderful feeling, enjoy!

*does

No it doesn't feel like popcorn. Much slower and more definite "twitches". But the real thing that makes me think it's not is that I really need to put my hand on my tummy to feel them properly. I thought you felt them internally only first?

OOOoooo yes! so exciting! Grin
I had no idea with my 1st thought all the same things as you - but looking back that is exactly what it is. Not wind no... little kicks!!

My first flutters felt like I had a little butterfly in my tum (15 weeks). This then progressed to feeling like popcorn popping when I got to 20ish weeks. I think it feels slightly different for eveyone though :)

Oooh thanks everyone! Feeling a bit more excited about these rumblings now I don't think they're wind!!

Am 23+0 with my first DC and I know I felt something like bubbles popping (but not like wind) twice in 2 days during wk 13, but then nothing for weeks. Then around week 17 I started feeling whooshy feelings (sort of like an upset stomach, but without the nausea) from time to time which couldn't be wind because it was in the wrong place. My scan at 20+5 confirmed I've got an anterior placenta, so that will muffle the feelings/delay feeling anything. It's only really in the last 7-10 days that I've felt anything myself that is definitely kicking and that's usually only when I'm in bed or dossing on the sofa.
