please tell me if this is normal or should I be worried

Hello, I think i'm around 5 weeks pregnant.
I have been having really bad lower back and leg pain to the point I can't sleep and want to cry. It goes as far down as my calfs. I had some spotting on tuesday and was told to rest and haven't had any since.
Just wanted to know if this is normal as it is quite severe pain. Thanks

Call NHS direct for advice. If the pain is that severe that you can't sleep I think it's worth checking out and they should be able to tell you how to get that done. If they do refer you to a&e, be sure you tell them you're pregnant, have had some bleeding and have severe pain - they need to know that all straight away to triage you - don't downplay it. The thing that you want to get ruled out is ectopic pregnancy - it's not an easy thing to confirm early on, but a scan might show the embryo sac (hopefully in the right place), and if not, then blood tests measuring HCG at 48 hour gaps should give some idea whether the pregnancy is progressing normally and what stage you're at (with some variation). Good luck, keep calm but do take action.

hey last year i got pregnant for the first time. i had all the pregnancy symtoms you could imagine even the ones that i didn't know about. yes lower back pain, hip pain leg pain. the best thing i can say is mention it to your midwife but when i mentioned it all she said to me was its normal. so try to be comfortable as much as possible. Dont stand up for long or walk long distances. i had the pain allthroghout my pregnancy
