Would really appreciate some words of comfort. 6+6 weeks pg and started with a small bleed yesterday. Spotting at 9.30 then blood at 11.30 then nothing, then blood at 4.30pm then nothing. Today nothing until 2.30 when there was blood again. Pain is the same as it's been throughout (intermittent stretchy). Have scan booked in next Fri but seriously have no idea how I'm going to get to next Friday as am a wreck already. Just don't know what to do. Someone telling me that this is normal would help as I am just panicing so much....:-(

Forgot to say, when I rest, it stops.

I wouldn't wait to speak to a midwife, you sound worried, and the scan will seem like ages away. I had a fall when I was one week away from my 12 wk scan and I was absolutely crapping myself as I went in, on what should have been (and turned out to be) a really exciting day. I didn't have any bleeding, I know if I did I would've called the CM just to put my mind at ease.

Everything is probably fine! But if you make sure now, you will be far more relaxed - much better for you and your LO.

Have you been to A&E?, With my 2nd I was bleeding abit like that and around the same dates to, I bleed on the Monday and rang docs straight away they couldnt get me in for a scan until the thursday, That night I was bleeding again and was stressing so went to A&E they monitored me for 5 hours because my heart beat was to fast! (wonder why?!) They didnt do anything baby wise just hooked me up to a drip for fluids and took bloods but they did manage to get my scan for a day earlier, He's now 14 months old :)
I would try there as they might be able to pull some strings for you x

jellyspoon · 27/01/2012 18:11

Hi holls, you say it stops when you rest, is there anyway you can rest for a few days? I'm in the same situation and have a scan next thurs but am only around 5 weeks so worried it may be too early to see anything anyway.
The whole wait and see thing is awful, I had a miscarriage last jan and that started the same but the bleeding was very heavy by the end of the same day so hoping this is different.
Could you bear to do a pregnancy test?
Hope all is well for you x

holls2000 · 27/01/2012 18:17

I thought about doing preg test. Maybe tomorrow. I think I am going to stay on sofa all weekend and see what happens if still bleeding might take Monday off work. Hate the unknown.

OP posts:
jellyspoon · 27/01/2012 18:22

The only problem with taken a test is if its faint or negative then it will make you worry more when all might be fine.
I started spotting on wednesday and have been in bed since and haven't anymore since.
Are you getting any cramps or symptoms?

holls2000 · 27/01/2012 18:25

Have had small cramps intermittently since got pg and they have carried on but not got worse. No other symptoms. Waist thicker. Boobs still sore. Hoo hum. Want to take Monday off but feel that this is not an illness so am being stupid.

OP posts:
jellyspoon · 27/01/2012 18:32

I would take monday off if you can, its not an illness but you need to rest, depends how work are with you, have you informed them of the pregnancy.
Really wish I could tell you something that will make you feel better, I think that the fact the bleeding hasn't got any heavier is a good sign.

holls2000 · 27/01/2012 18:34

Yeah the head and dep head know and the dep head knows about the bleeding. Will see how get in. Might try and beg for scan bit sooner!! Xx

OP posts:
jellyspoon · 27/01/2012 18:37

Good luck, hope it all goes well, is there any chance you could get a private scan?

littlemissnormal · 27/01/2012 18:48

Our local hospital has a walk in early pregnancy scanning clinic for anyone who has concerns like this. Would it be worth phoning your local midwife centre to see if yours does the same?

moregranny · 27/01/2012 22:33

My daughter had all this and a big bleed at 7 weeks, my beautiful grandaughter is now 7 months old, take care, keep everthing crossed, x

holls2000 · 28/01/2012 08:53

Oh thank you all for being so lovely - no blood this morning and am going to take it vvv easy this weekend and perhaps have Monday off to see if that calms things down. Everything that should be achy is and pg test this am was positive so feeling a tad more confident. Stressful, this pregnancy lark, isn't it?!! Xxx

Just wanted to say I've had bleeding since I found out I was pregnant I've had 3 scans 1 at 5wks 6days other at 8wks and just had my 12wk and found out I'm a week ahead then they thought. I was so worried about the bleeding but all seems ok. Midwife advised 2 rest and when I did bleeding stopped. She also said some women still have bleeds through pregnancy for no reason at all. Fingers crossed all is well for you and I no its hard try not 2 stress to much xx

holls2000 · 28/01/2012 09:49

Thanks. When i rest it stops totally which has to be a positive doesn't it?? Amazing how much you can love something that is just a bean, isn't it. Xxx

OP posts:
danielou · 28/01/2012 10:00

It sure is. I found it stopped when resting lying down or just sitting which is very hard to do with 2dd at a young age and needing me. but I found the more busy I am the worse the bleeding was. I'm keeping everything crossed for you. You may find you are 1 of the women that bleed through pregnancy like me. It was very scary when I first saw the blood. Like others have said is there any chance you could go to A&E? They maybe able to a emergency scan. X

holls2000 · 28/01/2012 10:43

If it starts again over the weekend then I am going to go to a and e. there isn't a lot of blood and I know that there always looks like there is more than there is so I am going to have a Think Positive weekend and hope to god that rest cures it. Xx

OP posts:
AThingInYourLife · 28/01/2012 10:53

Best wishes xx

I had a weekend like that not long ago, I remember well how I felt.

holls2000 · 28/01/2012 15:51

Thanks. Not as much bleeding today - little bit of brown spotting and a tiny bit of brown when I wipe so fingers crossed for a strong bean xx

OP posts:
danielou · 28/01/2012 23:21

What you are describing is excatly same as me. And I'm now 13weeks its not as bad just when I wipe sometimes sorry if its tmi. So there is a chance ur lil bean is staying strong. I'm still shocked I still have occasional bleed. So have my fingers crossed for you x

melatoon4 · 28/01/2012 23:30

Didn't like to read and run. I really do hope it all turns out ok for you, I bled for the first 16 weeks of my pregnancy (sometimes an awful lot) after countless trips to the hospital for scans/examinations/monitoring turns out I had some sort of cervical erosion (completely harmless but caused bleeding completely at random). Anyway long story short, I have a beautiful six month old baby girl. Take care of yourself xxx

holls2000 · 29/01/2012 09:41

I had a cervical quarterisation a few years ago so hoping that might have been aggravated. Hasn't been THAT much blood and (tmi alert) if I wiped 3 times it was gone. Nothing really yesterday just brown spotting so hoping for another good day after resting today again.
Contemplating not going to work tomorrow as third day of rest probs will help. Xx

OP posts:
DangerMousey · 29/01/2012 12:15

I am in the same boat and feeling v pessimistic. Am 5 wks 3 days and started bleeding yesterday, just a little brown spot or two at first, but now more and it's more red. Not as much as a full-on period though. Have had moderate stomach cramps for the last 2 days too. But I had these all last week as well with no bleeding so thought they might be normal stretching pains.

Went to hospital last night and had internal examination: doc said neck of womb was still closed, so NOT a miscarriage right now, but a 'threatened miscarriage'. Told me to rest and ring GP on Monday morning to get referral for an early scan.

I was crossing all my fingers and toes and following this advice, but then this morning did a digital home pregnancy test which said 'not pregnant' - does this definitely mean I am going to miscarry? Is there ever a scenario where you could do a home test like this and everything work out ok? (please don't be gentle with me, I'd rather know the facts).

holls2000 · 29/01/2012 12:19

Truly my lovely, I have no idea though I thought that pg hormones stuck around a while after a miscarriage. I hope you get on ok. Xx

OP posts:
kirrinIsland · 29/01/2012 12:48

danger was the digital test a clear blue one? Only I've a negative on that when other tests were positive. Also, after my miscarriage it was about 4 weeks before I got a negative on a preg test, so holls is right - the hormones do stick around for a while.

Hope everything is alright for you both.
