Hi
For the last couple of weeks I've had really bad constant neck pain, like I've slept funny Hmm
Is this just another pregnancy thing or something else Confused

Neck pain is probably unrelated to pregnancy. Have you pain at the tip of your shoulder ?

miaboo · 26/01/2012 17:08

no just all up the back of my neck on either side

Maybe it's worth talking to your mw and see what she thinks if your concerned that it's pregnancy related. I know that ligaments soften during pregnancy so maybe if you've slept funny you might have damaged your neck.

it's possible that your body has started to produce more relaxin (pg hormone that makes ligaments stretchy), which can set your posture off balance a bit without you knowing it. Which can in turn lead to neck pain, since you neck/back is really sensitive to those sorts of changes.

Tell the midwife (since she should know in case it's a symptom of something else), and then if she doesn't have any ideas, see if you can get a referral to a physiotherapist. Antenatal pilates can really help stabilise your body as it starts to get loose/wonky from relaxin. Water aerobics can also be good.

Hope it resolves itself soon.

hi mia i had awful neck ache from about weeks 6 until recently, drove me made, wasn't stiff like I couldn't turn it just really hurt but couldn't work out why. Proceeded with banging headache which waranted a call to the homeopathy and since remedy have had no more neck ache... so that isn't much help to you but yes, i had it too... have a whole list of other things now though! how is yours? I tried pilates and yoga and all sorts to get it shifted, but it just hurt.
