Pregnant after MMC

Hello

Last year my DH and I lost our first baby to a MMC at 13 weeks - we'd had a good scan at 10+6 when all appeared fine, but when we went back a few weeks later so the sonographer could do the nuchal scan unfortunately our baby had died.

I'm delighted to have fallen pregnant again - very early days, am only 5 weeks - but I am also scared of a repeat performance. I'm trying to take it a day at a time, accept that what will be will be, and not worry about what lies ahead - but it is hard, and I am becoming something of a fastidious knicker checker!

Does anyone have any words of wisdom - or anyone who had a MC with their first baby and went on to have a happy successful pregnancy?

Thanks

HI Beans, I didn't want you to go unanswered. There are loads of us on here who have gone through the same awful thing and you will find a lot of support on the miscarriages threads as well as on Conception where you will find the Freak Out Board for those newly pregnant after miscarriage. Really helpful to be able to speak to people who can relate!

Oooh thanks - will head over there now and have a look. Appreciate that.

Hello Beans. As freelancegirl says there are plenty of us here that have gone through the same thing - definitely pop over to the Freak Out Room for knicker checking galore!

I was in a very similar situation to you last year, also our first baby - had a scan at 10+4 where everything seemed fine, but by the time we went back 2 weeks later baby had stopped growing. I've just had a successful 12wk scan today and am feeling more relieved now, but I still can't help feeling that something could go wrong at any time. The MC boards have been a great help for me to get through the last few weeks.

How helpful is your GP/hospital/health authority? The EPU where I lived at the time said that I could come back for a scan from 7 weeks next time so it may be worth checking to see if you can have an early scan too to put your mind slightly more at rest.

Fx for a sticky bean for you this time!

Thanks Panpipe - big congratulations, what happy news! Thank you for sharing.

My GP was very lovely last time - I'm going in to see him tomorrow morning so I'll see about an early scan. It would help I think. My DH and I have been talking about getting one privately - I don't think I can wait the 12 weeks this time!

Thanks again x
