Kingston Hospital - self-referral anyone?

Has anyone else used the self-referral form on Kingston Hospital website? If so...how long did they take to reply?

Don't want to call and chase them as it's only been a week since I submitted form, but would have preferred to have received some sort of electronic 'we are dealing with it' bounce-back...

I'm with Kingston (but went through my GP). I did ring to check if they had my referral when I hadn't heard anything after a few weeks - the lady I spoke to was lovely and helpful so I wouldn't be afraid to call them.

From what I can gather, appointments are sent out on the basis of due date, so athough I was referred at 5 weeks, I didn't hear anything until 10 weeks.

Thanks for that!
Maybe I will call next week...(will restarin myself!)

I thought there was an 8wk booking in appointment? No?

I was supposedly 11+6w (based on lmp) when I had my booking appt and 12+2 for the scan (had both on the same week, but not the same day unfortunately). I think due to numbers of mums-to-be etc, the booking appt is generally around the 12w point. It was the same in my last pregnancy too (although that was a different trust).

Oh really! Ok.
Pretty crap if you need to talk to a midwife about something non-urgent but nonetheless important...still...I guess they're busy...

Thansk for letting me know...won't hold my breath on hearing back then... :-)

Why did you self refer? I gave birth at Kingston but my first trip there was just that, ie, when I gave birth. All other appointments were at midwives or GPs at local health centres or surgery.

My booking with DS2 at Kingston was around 9/10 weeks but this time I was 12+4 at booking. I didn't get the letter for the appointment until around 10 weeks (was referred at 5 weeks!). They're a busy, 'oversubscribed' hospital so as much as the maternity notes say 'booking at 8-10 weeks' they are obviously having trouble hitting that target!

I did also phone in the five weeks of radio silence to make sure they'd received the referral and they were very polite and patient so don't worry too much about calling just to check it's all in hand, as it were.
