Hello.
My friend has just offered me the angelcare sound and movement monitor that she had for her baby. It's rrp is £100 and she'd sell it to me for £40.

This is my first child so I don't have a clue about baby monitors. Do I need one with sound and movement?

Any help would be great.

Thank you :)

Hello!

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing out baby monitors. Read our reviews to see which baby monitor was crowned best of the best.

Hope that helps! Flowers

That sounds like a good monitor! I have an Avent monitor, cost around £50 and the best things about it are the temperature display, obviously that we can hear DC1 at night and also that it plays lullabys which was really handy when he was tiny. I don't know about movement, although I'm generally of the opinion that hearing the baby is the most important thing. Hope this helps.

We had this and it is great .
Used the movement sensor in Moses basket ( even though DD was right beside me) and then cot later on. Found it reassuring especially in early overwhelmed weeks. I would think its a better deal than a £40 monitor.
Ask if they used plywood in base of cot ( as recommended) and if so have that from them too as will save you a job later on.

I had a BT one to begin with as we didn't know about the Angelcare. Once DD started sleeping through though I found I was almost waking her up to chk her breathing even though she was right beside me. I bought the Angelcare to let me sleep, worth the money and a great reassurance once she moved to her cot next door. I thought ours came with as corrugated cardboard base to put it on, definitely needed in the wicker moses basket.

Angelcare roooooccckkkksss!

We got one cause I knew I'd be a breathing checker. The alarm scares the pants off you. Handy tip make sure it's on a solid surface under the mattress else it goes off alllll the time! My DH cut a piece of chip board the size of the cot. It works fine now, still goes off a bit but DS likes to squish himself against the very top and very bottom of the cot bed.

DS is 15 m/o he will have it till he's 19! Lol

I love my Angelcare. DS is 22mo and we still use it, am now looking for a 2nd one for our newcomer... I'd say it sounds like steal, and you won't regret it!
