I have moved to Ewell recently from Putney and am hoping someone can help me decide whether I should transfer to Epsom or St. Helier hospital to deliver my baby. I was booked in at St. George's but that is too far for me now. I am being seen by maternal medicine clinic at St. George's along with the regular care as I suffer from Hypermesis and reoccurent uti so anyone has experience of maternal medicine clinic also then that would be a great help.

Hi - personal opinion only but I have gone for St Helier which had a revamp a couple of years ago and now has a fancy new midwife led birthing centre which have heard v good things about. Friends who have given birth there have all given me good reports, and the care I've received so far has been fantastic. I can't comment on the Epsom maternity unit specifically, but can say that family members who've used Epsom recently (A&E and acute ward) have had some horrible experiences... Having said that, Epsom would be your closest hospital being in Ewell...it might be good to speak to someone who has used it recently...sorry, that probably doesnt help much!

Thanks absam32. I am getting more and more inclined towards St. Helier.

I gave birth at Epsom nearly 3 weeks ago and found all the staff to be absolutely amazing. Facilities were clean and the care was second to none. I was in for 2 days post birth and couldn't have asked for better. The worst thing I can find to say is that the meals are tiny!

I'd avoid St. Helier, purely because every time I go there I think it looks like a nuclear power station! I haven't seen the new birthing centre though and my last birth at Epsom was 4 years ago.

I do spend a lot of time at Epsom though due to SN DC and I have no complaints at all!
