What's Kings (london) like?

Anyone given birth there? Is it OK? I had my daughter at UCLH in 2009, and the midwives were really good, no complications, though I got turned away twice at 2 cm and then an hour and a half later was back and pushing in the lift. BUt other than that they were great! Moving to south london and due in May so is Kings OK?

I gave birth to my daughter at King's nearly 4 months ago and it was a really good experience. Well, it hurt, but you know what I mean. :) Admittedly it was uncomplicated, natural labour, no interventions or anything - but the midwives were fantastic, and the care we received after my baby was born (and wouldn't feed well) was excellent. Post-natal ward a bit busy but that's too be expected. All eight of my NCT group buddies gave birth there too (willingly or by necessity) and they all had great things to say about their experiences - especially since most of them had quite complicated births.

Good luck!

I can't help on the birth bit but just wanted to say how impressed I have been with my care so far. I am 16weeks and have been for two scans at Kings and have had a great experience both times. Seen on time and the scans were so through, especially when I hear about the rushed scans other people have had. They check placental blood flow as standard and the 12 week scan is as detailed as you get at the Fetal Medicine Centre in London (showing the blood flow between the four chambers of the heart etc) as Professor Nicolaides set up the centre at Kings also. They have top of the range equipment and also give you an internal scan to check that your cervix is long and closed. As I said, I don't know about birth but am very happy to have my baby there as the care I have received so far has been above and beyond what I have expected of the NHS.

Brilliant ante-natal care, I lucked out and got a private room (for free) afterwards too, so my experience was mainly good (5 years ago though).
On a superficial level it is all very modern and clean, which is nice Smile.

good stuff. thanks for that. i'll transfer to kings when we move then. i got a private room at uclh when i had dd which was awesome but i think i got it as a complimentary bonus since i basically pushed her out in the check in area and they felt bad for sending me home at 2cm! wouldn't mind that again actually...
