are there natural alternatives (apart from through diet) to iron tablets?

I am just over 33 weeks pregnant and the doctor told me a few weeks ago that I am anaemic. She gave me iron tablets. 3x200mg a day. They are giving me such an upset stomach though and within half an hour of taking one, I get pains in my stomach and diarrhoea. I feel a constant dragging in my stomach. I didn't take them for a few days and I felt so much better in my stomach but then started going dizzy. So I need to take them because I am desperate to get my levels up. I have got a homebirth booked and really don't want to have to go to hospital. I am trying to eat iron rich foods, but I just wondered if there is an alternative to iron tablets I could take that would be a bit gentler on my (very sore) tummy!?

spatone sachets are meant to be much easier on your tummy. you can get them at Holland *& Barrett, health food shoops.

I second spatone, took it during my second pregnancy. It is great to take in orange juice to maximise iron absorbancy and no constipation etc.
