Hi everyone,

I got myself and my bridesmaids a spa treatment which consists of a herbal body wrap and a facial.. but have been looking at info online and people are saying that its not safe to do whilst your pregnant (the herbal wrap- soemthing to do with raising your body temp). does anyone know how safe it is. Bought them before started TTC and merrily went an booked it. Got first appt with midwife in a couple of days so will ask then

Some herbs are not safe to use in pregnancy and also a raised body temp should be avoided, some salons do a pregnany massage though :)

hi jods no i wouldn't. and they probably wouldn't do it as it would be contra indicated. After 3 months they may give you a nice massage? Or if before i personally think massage and reflex okay but they still might not treat. facial will be nice though!

You should even be careful with massages, as not everyone is qualified to massage pregnant women. It can actually do more damage than good, I got a Tu Nah massage for my sore sacrum off of someone that wasn't qualified and was in pain for two days Confused

I doubt if you are visibly pregnant that the beautician will be willimg to do it. Treatments which raise body temp are never considered sfae in pregnancy. I'm sure though they'd be willing to swap the treatment for a more appropriate one to the same value if you call them in advance. If they aren't qualified to do a pregnancy body massage, then have head and shoulders, a relxing facial, or a leg and foot with pedicure. All are totally wonderful if you are pregnant.
