40+5 weeks today and everyone else is giving birth on the January thread!

I have bad SPD/SI pain, an 18 month old to look after, a stinking cold and cough and am just feeling very emotional and hormonal. Today isn't even a good day to have a baby as DP is over an hour away with work and SIL (DD's carer) is in Ireland! Have tried all the usual remedies to try and kickstart things but absolutely nothing is happening. Been getting twinges and BHs for weeks now but they stop after a few hours. My DD was born at 37+5 weeks after a 4 hour labour so I'm not used to this waiting game. I'm in agony and really need to have this baby.

Lovely mumsnetters keep sending me your labour vibes.

Now I debating whether I've had a show or am getting too excited.

Been to the loo twice in the past 20 mins both times had loads of clear, gel like discharge no blood in it though.

Have had a show with DD but it was after waters went and had a pinkish twinge, think I may be getting excited about nothing though. Wish my waters would break.

oooh Sweetkitty - it's sounding good!! - maybe my dream was a premonition!!!
FWIW My show didn't arrive until 4 hours after I'd been put on the induction drippy thing and it was practically colourless & really gloopy (sorry if TMI)
I do hope everyone's pushy outy vibes work for you tonight hon!!

sweetkitty · 24/01/2006 08:08

Afraid I am still here ladies, induction is looking more and more likely. In some ways I wish it could be today I'm so fed up now - 10 days over. If I am to be induced going to try and push it until Monday so DP can be at the birth but I know they won't like it. SIL is away this weekend so DP would have to look after DD and don't fancy giving birth without him (and he would be totally gutted at missing it). Starting to think this baby is never going to come out and theres something preventing her from being born.

Poor you - you must be so fed up. Are you able to book yourself in for a 'treat' today? Am thinking haircut, nails, anything, to give yourself a bit of a boost.
Big positive vibs heading your way.

kreamkrackers · 24/01/2006 08:56

what about going to a chinese remedy place? or hypnotheropy to make you believe your already in established labour! there has to be some more natural way out there other than induction.

Miaou · 24/01/2006 09:10

Aw sweetkitty, sympathies, it's no fun having to wait so long, is it? I hope things get moving for you before the weekend.

Just bear in mind, as each day passes, you are more and more likely to go into labour. Keep your chin up!

Have you been busy doing stuff? cinema???

sweetkitty · 24/01/2006 09:39

Unfortunately having bad SPD pain and an 18 month old means treats are few and fair between right now, am going to try some good old fashioned housework see if that can shift her any.

Spoke to DP this morning and he was of the opinion that I should go in on Saturday and he will miss it as the baby and I are the most important things.

I too tried reflexology and homeopathy to get things moving a bit and it seemed to work well. Am thinking of you SK, your DD1 and my DS are virtually the same age. We also had fairly similar birth experiences first time around, sO I have my fingers crossed that it all goes well for you this time round too! I have been checking the birth announcement thread in the last few days wondering about you! Fingers crossed tonight is the lucky night!!

Meid · 24/01/2006 21:54

Fingers crossed it is about to happen for you Sweetkitty! I'm being induced tomorrow so maybe we'll be having our babies on the same day... 11 days late!
Best of luck!

hi Meid - best of luck to you too, I'm hanging on to Saturday when I'll be 14 days over in the slimmest hope that I'll go before then. Really wanted DP to be at the birth as well but looks like he won't be able to as he will have to look after DD. Bit upset about not getting my homebirth too but trying to remain positive and focus on the baby.
