I had a C Section with my first baby 14 months ago, it healed well and I've never had any problems with it...

But now i'm 4 weeks pregnant (I think, no scan yet) and I'm feeling quite a lot of discomfort along my scar, specifically on the right side, last night it actually woke me up and I felt like I couldn't sit up.

Is this normal? Its freaking me out a bit... just because my husband read online that pain on one side can be an ectopic pregnancy, but it does seem very localised to my scar.

Thanks...

Did it start as early as 4 weeks?

I have had this on and off (35 weeks now) with my scar. Scar tissue does not stretch as easily so as your uterus expands it pulls.

Massaging the scar area can help to loosen scar tissue that is pulling.

If it is so painful that it is waking you up I would speak to midwife and get consultant obstetrician appointment as sometimes after previous cs you can have adhesions to other organs that can cause problems. My SIL's uterus had adhesed to her bladder which caused DN to be born at 30 weeks as uterus couldn't expand, she had lots of pain throughout pregnancy. They can do an ultrasound to find out.

Hope it all goes well for you and that it turns out to just be scar tissue pulling, but get it checked out just to be sure.

Thanks.... it just felt really soon to have it... at just 4 weeks there surely isn't that much happening down there? lol

Just had a thought though, it could be the embryonic cells implanting deeper in lining of womb. I had one sided pain early on near scar and turned out to have a low lying placenta (which had moved up now).
