How long can I take cyclazine for? its relieving my morning sickness but only have one weeks supply

I am around 8/9 weeks pg with dc3 and suffering with awful ms (I had hyperemesis in my last 2 pg).

My gp has given me some cyclazine, and said not to take over a prolonged time period.

I took the recommended dose of 3xdaily yesterday (after a morning spent crying from feeling so rough). I felt better than Ihave in ages, and am thinking of taking them all week for a physical and emotional boost, as I really can't carry on the way I am with ms.

Does anyone know if this is too much? Will gp prescribe me more if needed after this week, or is that too many?

Hi vanimal, I've been on prochlorperazine, which is a similar anti-emetic, since about 9w and I'm 5 days overdue now! And the only reason I'm not on cyclazine is that the prochlorperazine works slightly better for me. None of the (many) GPs or midwives that I have seen over the past 30w have expressed any concern with me being on these tablets for so long - I get surprise that I have had to be on them my whole pg, but that's it! As far as I am aware there are absolutely no problems with taking this medication for a long period of time and cyclazine is one of the standard anti-emetics for pg.

I would go back and ask for a repeat prescription, definitely. However, there is loads of info over on the hypermesis thread that you can read through and maybe print off to bolster your case if you are worried your GP might say no.

still taking it now at 32 weeks. have done since 7 weeks!!

I didn't get on with cyclezone (as I called cos it was that shite) so I had stematil (sp) instead, maybe you can take that for longer I had it for 1st and 3rd pg, try asking HTH
