Advice for a dad to be??

We are going to be first timers in March and where I have got my mum, aunts, mates etc to get all the advise I would ever need about labour birth and early days. But, OH's family are very distant and pretty much uninterested in the pregnancy. I've told him to speak to the men in my family about becoming a dad as they will happily give him some advice. He wont.
Problem is, he is very blinkered and just expects everything to fall into place without a hitch. He wont even look at the preggy book!

So, i was wondering if any of you new dads out there could reply letting him know your experiances with labour and birth, pref a water birth which he hates the idea of but im having 1 anyway!! Also about how to support your pregnant partner.

Thanks!

I'm expecting DC3, but if there is one thing I remember about DH after DS1 it was that he was too alpha male. DS1 was in SCBU and DH seemed to pace about the hospital wanting to do something to make it all better. He couldn't. DS1 just needed space and time to grow. So, my advice would be try to go with the flow and don't think you need to be in charge of every situation. Sometimes, you just aren't.
