With DS I wore the same pair of jeans to death. Am determined for that not to happen again. Thus, I have purchased:

2 pairs of capri pants (one beige, one navy)
skinny combats
three pairs of jeans in the M&P sale (one grey, two stonewash)
two pairs of jeans off ebay (both dark blue)
one mothercare demin pinifore dress
one polkadot blue dress
two pairs of black leggings
3 x vests
3 x long sleeve tops
two patterned t-shirts
an african print vest/floaty top

Have left over from last time / wearable again:

black M&S stretchy jersey wrap dress
black skinnies from mothercare
gingham strapless top
dressy black top with sequins
3 x workshirts
cream polkadot frilly dress
two down-to-the floor jersey dresses (one black / one purple)

I think this is plenty don't you!!!!! Shock I also have a coupe of things that although not maternity wear, they did actually work ok during my pregnancy last time.

Wondering what you have bought, if you have more/less stuff??

That's loads.
I've got:
3 dresses
2 tops
2 pairs of leggings
2 pairs of trousers
Tights.

The rest of the stuff I'm just wearing pre-pregnancy clothes.

bemybebe · 20/01/2012 18:04

One pair of mat jeans and loads of free fitting tops.
That is it. Maybe will borrow from a friend her old mat wear if I really need to (she offered).
Don't want to spend good money on quality stuff i get to wear for 4 months tops. Don't like to buy cheap.

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 20/01/2012 18:04

Bloody hell that must've cost a fortune. I have a couple of pairs of jeans, one maternity jumper, a jumper dress, leggings, a vest and a bump band. The rest is pre pregnancy stuff. I got so conned the last 2 pregnancies to buy things I just didn't need. I spent almsot 40 quid on a pair of maternity PJs for christs sake. All for an extra big waistband. Bonkers. Things labelled maternity are priced at a premium, whereas in most shops things can be found in the normal range that fit perfectly well. H and M is great for this.

HardCheese · 20/01/2012 18:13

God, I've been terribly cheap in comparison. For work (academic, so a lot of standing up in front of lecture theatres of the young), I'm mostly wearing pre-pregnancy wrap dresses and flowy cardigans. The rest of the time I'm wearing pre-pregnancy jeans which still just about fit at 32 weeks, if I wear the top pulled down under my bump, a useful pair of adjustable-waist black trousers, and three well-made maternity tops which drape attractively over my belly.

Bought in all in the Jan sales!!!! So didnt spend loads :)

Crikey nora that's a lot of clothes!

I got given a couple of tops and a pair of trousers by a friend; other than that I've bought...

Pack of 2 bump bands
2 pairs of smartish trousers
maternity tights

That's actually it, now I come to think of it. I can still fit into my normal jeans and most of my pre-pregnancy clothes are wearable with a bump band. And my wardrobe mostly consists of wrap dresses anyway, which I appreciate in a whole new light since becoming pregnant...!

ardenbird · 20/01/2012 18:52

Wow, I've got a very limited wardrobe. I bought one maternity pair of trousers and one top at Mothercare -- it was the sum total of their maternity wear that fit me. Then I got two more tops at H&M, not maternity but big and knit, and look like they'll stretch as needed. I've got some ankle-length skirts that I can pull above the bump, and have worn them a little too. My MIL has said some more is coming in in a delayed Xmas package in the post, so I'll see what that is before I hit H&M again for a little variety. It would be nice to have at least 5 tops for the work week! As it is, I work at two desks, so try to remember what I wore in what building to not duplicate at a location within a week.

Yummymummyyobe1 · 20/01/2012 18:58

I am almost 26 weeks and am still in a size ten and haven't needed to buy any maternity clothes.

Although I did buy quite a bit in M&S the other day. It should do me for after Harry is born and until my beautiful size 8's fit again.

xx

Bloody hell, I've hardly bought anything at 32 weeks, just wearing empire line or stretchy stuff I already owned, with a pair of black maternity trousers, jeans or cords. I have just out grown the black trousers, though! Have bought a dress but really just adapted stuff I already owned.

LoveInAColdClimate · 20/01/2012 19:03

Oh, and a swimsuit.

PetaO · 20/01/2012 19:24

Am 32 weeks and have bought new look maternity jeans which I've lived in (but are now a bit uncomfortable) black trousers, a jo jo maman black mini skirt (which I love) 2 pairs mat tights, 4 mat t-shirts, 2 long sleeved mat t-shirts, 2 mat bras, a gorgeous h+m mat cardigan and a hoodie. Oh, and I bought 2 tunic tops from dp that weren't maternity but still work. I had a load of empire-line stuff that I can still wear. I had to splash out on some mat yoga trousers for workouts and a mat swimming costume.
I guess when you add it up it's cost a lot, but most of it will work post-pregnancy too.
I agree that specifically maternity stuff is priced at a premium. But you don't need hardly as much as they say you do!! And now that brands like H+M, New Look, Dorothy Perkins, etc. are doing maternity wear it works out that little bit cheaper. I could never have afforded to get the stuff I needed if I'd had to shop at specialist maternity stores.

36 weeks, and purchases (mostly by my mum who has been fab!) have been for no.2:
3 long t-shirts
2 long drapey thin pullovers
Long stretchy skirt (2 from previous preg so stretched out I couldn't wear them until a couple weeks ago)
2x thick black H+M leggings
2x thin H+M black leggings
Wonderful pair of overbump black trousers from last pregnancy from brand called Duo, that fit perfectly throughout. I basically wear leggings when they are in the wash!
Black stripy satin pair trousers from last preg that I actually wore more when I wasn't pregnant as they stayed up better!
Pair Next jeans - only stayed up with a belt until I was about 6mo, useless after!

Maternity trench coat - just worn for first time as my huge warm winter jacket is meant to fit lots of layers, and as I feel hot mainly, it still fits.
Maternity swimsuit
Some larger pants
Bump band to help keep bump warm
A couple long warm pullovers (not maternity, from before)
2 new bras, but mainly my nursing ones from last preg.

Last time I was pregnant over summer which was so much easier as could just wear stretchy skirts and loose t-shirts, or loose dresses, and velcro sandals, and nothing else. Getting my layers in the right order has been tricky!

I highly recommend H&M and Ebay and Freecycle, but anything loose or stretchy is fine esp outside the office.

justhayley · 20/01/2012 23:51

Jesus u have a shops worth full of stuff! I'm keeping it to a minimum.

2 pairs of H&M jeans
2 pairs of leggins
1 pair of joggers
2 maternity tops - longs sleeved T shirts.

Everything else iv bought has just been a size up in normal non maternity tops - and I steal my DPs jumpers Grin

Iv got lots of baggy jumper dresses pre pregnancy that I live in, and when if we get a hot April I'll wear Maxi dresses that I already own that should go over my bump!

I refuse to spend loads on maternity clothes I don't even like,& don't want to buy to much in a size up. If I can't fit in my clothes post baby it will inspire me to get fit again - well that's the plan anyway!

fretfree · 21/01/2012 07:06

I bought one pair of jeans, two pairs of trousers, one dress, four tops and a pack of two t-shirts, all in the sale. I also borrow two jumpers from my DH :)

I have a longish body (and unfortunately short, stumpy legs) and to be honest, the trousers are the best fit I have ever found!!! would it be so odd to still wear them post-baby??? Plus there would be the added benefit of my back not getting exposed when cycling :o

McPhee · 21/01/2012 07:16

All I have so far is:

3 pairs of jeans from new look
3 long sleeve casual tops from m&ps
I wrap jumper from new look
2 tops from new look
Swimsuit from Next

Confused need more
