Another baby?

Hi all

I'm looking for fellow Mumsnetters experiences, please! I turn 37 tomorrow (arrggghh!) and have a 20 month old daughter. I'm starting to get broody again but like many people these days, I live a long way from my family & my husbands family, so we don't have a support network round us. We moved to a new area last year & don't have many friends yet. To cap it all I have PCOS, so another baby may or may not happen.

Has anyone else been through a similar dilemma? My main concerns are how I'd cope with a newborn & a toddler with no granny round the corner to help out. There is also the question as how my daughter will react to a new baby in the house, but on the other hand is it fair for her to be an only child?

So many thoughts whirling in my head! If anyone is willing to share their experiences I'd be ever so grateful!

Hey :)

I am 36 in March and currently 6 weeks pregnant and already have a 15 month old and a 7 (almost 8) year old. I live over an hour away from my mum and sister (who are useless to call on in any emergency anyway) and the MiL lives about 4 hours away. So no real support network here either!

Im a bit scared about how I will cope with a newborn and a toddler and school runs etc. etc. but I know that I will cope! It doesnt get any harder with 2, in fact I think its easier as they play together and entertain each other :) the school run for my eldest was a little hard at first as DD wanted to breastfeed constantly, but she just had to cope with letting go for half an hour, and we always made it on time (just!)

When I told my DC1 about DC2 he was absolutely over the moon! and despite the 6 year age gap they already play together and he is a great help and loves his little sister to bits. He is also really happy about the new baby but slightly concerned that he may become a father soon as he already is in love with a girl at school (bless!).

As a kid I was so glad to have siblings...

Good luck deciding :)

I found it hard having 22 months between my two. Like you, I have no relatives around and when ds2 was a baby I struggled to breastfeed him, for example, because I had to keep an eye on ds1 too who was a toddler and going through the terrible twos. When number 2 became mobile, number 1 was potty training,etc...My idea was to have them close together so that they'd be best buddies and keep each other company which they do now although with a lot fighting too!
Ultimately it's a very personal decision! Good luck whatever you decide. X

Yeah I can foresee breastfeeding being a nightmare this time round...
