Haven't redone my highlights since we found out about being preggers and now look like something out of Eastenders...is it really a risk to use bleach? How could it possibly get into your system given hair is dead??

Myth according to my hairdresser. I had full head of bleach and toners at 20 weeks and about to again next week. Still got wriggly active baby.

not enough research to know. however as highlights don't touch the skin they are considered 'safe' to baby , apparently your hair itself may respond differently from normal. .

Would get it done at the salon because the chemicals aren't going to touch your head if they're using foils and your hair is 'dead' so it doesn't matter that he dye is on it. Would avoid doing it at home as you're more likely to get it on your skin, through which chemicals can find their way into your bloodstream.

This is such good news, thank you ladies. Now how to sit for 3 hours given my pelvis is heading for Antarctica and taking little side journeys en route...
