Weird Discharge - 40wks

Sorry this may be TMI for some...!

I had an attempted sweep on Monday, midwife said she could only get into the external bit of cervix and not internal but afterwards i had some bleeding (minor) and what i thought was a show (looked like baked bean juice!) on Monday and into yesterday.

Since then nothing except i am sure baby had fully engaged as i am in a lot more pain walking/sleeping but that's fine.

Anyway today i went to the loo and had sort of weird white ish discharge a bit lumpy (but nothing major) i stuck a finger in in the shower (sorry TMI!) and what came out was sort of whitish lumpy discharge. Is this just more show or infection or something? I have no stinging/itching or anything and feel OK but thought maybe was a bit weird or could just be gearing up i guess?

Was it clear whitish, with maybe a bit of blood and a bit like the consistency of thick snot?

If so it could be a show!

Could be your mucus plug coming out.

morethemerrier · 18/01/2012 14:15

I've not had a show every time (exp DC4) but what you describe sounds like your plug coming away.

Mine resembled rice pudding type consistency, also came after a sweep, it took a week though to go into labour but a good sign things are happening!

Good luck x

Yes i think it's a show then. Rice pudding is a good comparison lol! I will put my feet up and rest then in the hope that things might happen this week...!

LOL! Hope I've not put anyone off rice pudding! Grin

And totally agree with resting up, I fell into the exhausting trap of 'trying to bring on labour'! Sex, shed load of pineapple, speed humps, hot curries and DS2 was still 10 days over!

Was much more relaxed with DC3,and she was only 3 days over! DC4 can take its time, its my last pregnancy so not in a rush for it to end!

Good luck! x

ellesabe · 18/01/2012 20:36

I had exactly the same and started contractions 2 days later. Sounds like your mucus plug. Good luck :)

Could be your mucus plug.. I had something similar and the MW said that you do produce more when baby is due.
