DP is getting fed up with me grabbing his hand and saying feel this and he can never feel anything even when the kicks are quite strong.

I'm nearly twenty weeks have others found the same or can kicks be felt from outside for you at this stage?

I felt the baby moving much earlier this time around but DH felt her for the first time yesterday (hooray Grin ) at 21 1/2 weeks (almost exactly the same as last time).

Can you feel the kicks from the outside yourself yet? when you can, it's then a case of patience and good timing - DS used to go still whenever DH put his hand on my bump!

used2bthin · 17/01/2012 19:58

Yes this one does the going still thing too! I too have felt movement much earlier than before so I wonder if thats why it feels like its taking ages for DP to be able to feel.

I think I can feel it from the outside but not sure if its my brain assuming I feel it with my hand because I am feeling it inside if that makes sense.

It took weeks of me feeling pretty strong kicks before DH felt anything. Little one seemed calmed by his hand too... (that's how I liked to see it) and sometimes DH just couldn't feel it. With us I was more like 26 weeks - but I have an anterior placenta.

Thanks spannermary so I can stop being irritated by DP's lack of sensitivity then he really can't feel it yet!

I suppose before I know it we'll be able to see movement!

Hi! My gran died when I was 20 weeks pregnant and me and my sister spent all night at the hospital. For some reason ds spent all night wriggling and my sister sat for some time feeling my belly move. It wAs quite some time after that thAt my husband felt him though. Grin

Boomerwang · 18/01/2012 04:03

I felt the baby move at around 20 weeks but it wasn't until approx 25 weeks that my boyfriend could feel her. The baby was really going for it so I was puzzled that he couldn't feel it as I could feel it through my hand.

Also like others have said, the minute he put his hand on my belly the baby stopped moving. I have no idea why, because she keeps moving if I use my hand.

ballroompink · 18/01/2012 06:44

DH first felt a kick from the outside at about 20 weeks, but it was just an isolated incident at that stage tbh. Am now 23 weeks and he can feel them more regularly.

HardCheese · 18/01/2012 07:59

Re. the comment about seeing movement, I chaired a meeting ysterday at 32 weeks and noticed that everyone around the table was gazing in total fascination as my belly wriggled about visibly as the baby did his mid-morning interior callisthenics. Grin A bit hard to be upstaged by your own bump...

melliebobs · 18/01/2012 08:35

I didn't feel movement myself till 19-20 weeks. I know how you feel it is so frustrating not being able to share with dh. But my husband got to feel it for real at about 22-23 weeks.

Now at 35 weeks I beg him to feel cos his hand on my belly tends to send the lil thing to sleep. Either that or she's scared of him! But it gives me a break

heartmoonshadow · 18/01/2012 10:22

I am 25 weeks now and DH has tried several times and got nothing but a few days ago my DS (2 and 1/2) was lying with his head on my tummy and he jumped up quickly saying 'mummy your tummy button bumped me' it was v cute!

lolajane2009 · 18/01/2012 12:41

i think mine was 18 weeks but son was always wriggling all the way through and still is as a four month old

Ecgwynn · 18/01/2012 16:47

I felt it move at 18 weeks but DH couldn't feel it until about 22 weeks. I'm 25 weeks now and the other night while I was asleep but DH was awake (man flu) he could feel the baby moving inside me. That freaked me out because I didn't even feel it!

So don't worry, he'll be in the right place and time soon and baby will get stronger and kickier.

used2bthin · 18/01/2012 19:41

Thanks for the replies some lovely stories. Grin at hardcheese doing a presentation and being upstaged! I remember people saying they could see the baby move when I was pregnant with dd, one of my friends used to get really freaked out by it!

Ah how sweet about melliebob's DS too!

And I too can imagine my DP not feeling it when more senstive people would! Thats partly why I started the thread I half thought it was just him!
