Hi

I am 8 weeks pregnant and it is my first time.
I started bleeding last night it started off just a little bit
Went to the docs this morning and was told that it is
Normal to bleed a little bit at the first stages of pregnancy, was then told to go home and rest and to come back if the bleeding continues or gets heavier. Through the afternoon I have been bleeding heavier but no pain, just a bit of a dull ache which I usually have when I get my period, I have also had a couple blood clots. I then rang the doctor back and he has now booked me in for an ultra scan on Wednesday.
I can't help but panic seeing as this is my first pregnancy and I haven't got a clue what to do, if anyone has got any advice or has experienced something similar please share!! :(

Hello there,

I'm sorry you're having such a stressful time and I do know exactly what you're going through.

Sadly there's not much I can say that will give you a definitive answer but there are some causes of bleeding in early pregnancy that don't spell disater, in fact, there are lots of women on MN who have had bleeding in early pregnancy and gone on to have happy, healthy pregnancies.

If the bleeding gets any worse or you start to pass clots my advise would be to go to A&E if you are concerned. Some areas of the country also have walk in early pregnancy units so maybe you could have a bit of a google for your area?

I hope your bleeding tails off and your scan goes well but in the meantime if you have any concerns then do seek medical help.

Good luck xxx

Yeah, the doctor did say that some women do bleed heavily during their pregnancies and they go on to have healthy babies. It's gonna be a long day tomorrow but just wanting to get this scan done and just see what's going on good or bad!
