Need reasurance Only 14 wks and braxton hicks?

Hi All,

On Friday evening for about an hour I had painful tightening all round my stomach area and sides and an ache from the middle to the top of my back. It passed thankfully but it was only when I was thinking about it the next morning that I wondered if it could be a bad sign, braxton hicks or something.

I phoned the hospital today as it has been playing on my mind.They didn't seem to be worried as there was no show of blood. The explanation given was that it was possibly due to having had a previous c section.

Does this sound plausable? Has anyone else experienced similar feelings and everything turned out well?

I so hope I'm getting concerned over nothing.

Hi, I'm 18 weeks and been having BH since around 16 weeks, some a bit painful, stomach very tight and sometime back ached, never lasting very long or any pattern to them occurring. I mentioned it to my consultant and he said it was very normal and that BH start from around 12 weeks or earlier, it's just we're not aware of them, he also said that sometimes the uterus contracts so much at 12 week scan it can be difficult to perform the scan.
Maybe if it happens to you again and you are worried I'd make an appointment to see your midwife or GP?

helen thank you, you have gone some way to reassuring me . I have my 16 week appointment at the end of next week with my GP, though if it happens again i will be seeing her sooner.
