I am 21 weeks pregnant and so far have purchased nothing as I have had a miscarriage before and was scared the same would happen again. We have decided we should start buying some things to put away in preparation. What has everyone else been buying? Asda have a baby event on just now and have some good offers. A baby carrier is only £15 but I don't want to jump in too soon without doing any research.

Have bought: buggy, bassinet (2nd hand off NZ equivalent of eBay), 2 x sleep suits (got them the day we had the second scan to mark the occasion) and a book, 6 weeks supply of disposable nappies when they were on sale - planning to buy re-usables when my pay for exam marking comes in.

Been lent a baby bouncer, playmat, baby chair & baby bath by a friend whose baby has out-grown them.

Been bought a fair few vests, scratch mitts and sleep suits by my gran.

My friend organized a baby shower (they're really common here, unlike the UK) and to given lots of clothes, toys, wash sets etc.

Planning to sew the bassinet sheets this week, been knitting pram blankets and have been sewing muslins after buying the fabric when it was on sale. Need to make a change mat too.

So not bought too much. Trying not to go too mental so I can stay on maternity leave as long as is financially possible!

So far nothing, but will buy some diapers, a sling, a few onsies, changing bag, and mat, receiving blankets (which I think are muslins in the UK) and nail scissors. I might buy a stroller but not for a while, they are handy for shopping and airports, even if the baby is in a sling.
My situation is a bit different where I am going to my inlaws in England to have the baby, then spending 8 weeks at home in Canada before moving back to Egypt. I don't want to be dragging a lot of stuff around.
Actually I do have some stuff: my six year old bought a blanket for the baby at Xmas, we have already been given a few outfits, a stuffed giraffe and some rattles. With my first I had bought a lot and was given an insane amount of stuff ( Two showers and first baby of all my friends and for all three sets of grandparents) hopefully when I go home I will be able to reclaim a moses basket and a sling for the summer! and lots of clothes if this one is also a girl!

Furniture wise a Cot bed, mattress, bumper, fitted sheets, swaddling blankets, (got given Moses basket and bedding) got a full size wardrobe, changing table (which if it is as useless as people say it will be great for storage), glider chair/footstool

20 reusable nappies and loads of disposables till I find out what we like. Changing mat, baby bath, 6 muslin squares (dubious to how usefull they will be)

Intend to bf so no bottles but Got a manual pump, pads etc

Travel system (pushchair, carrycot, car seat) just need a car seat base. Got a changing bag for xmas

Clothes wise :- pram/snow suit (expecting a feb baby) one pair of jeans, a zip hoodie, 2 pairs of trakkie bottoms, about 20 vests (mixture of new born but mostly 0-3), 12 all in ones (4-5 newborn the rest 0-3month) plenty of hats, scratch mits, socks, knitted cardies. And that's it. Alot of the clothes have been given to us. But that's it. We are all done. If theres anything weve forgotten tesco is only down the road! Just need the little critter here now! (2-7 weeks to go!!!!)

This is my second so haven't really had to buy too much even though we have a boy already and have found out we're having a girl this time. A lot of DS's newborn/0-3 month clothes were pretty unisex so have only bought a few girly outfits.

I was given a crib not long after I announced which is fab as DS was in a moses basket which lasted about 4 weeks. Got a new baby monitor and car seat but so far thats about it. We're lucky to have a few close friends who are happy to pass things along to us.
