Not really sure what this means to my pregnancy. I am 6+4. Doctors didn't really say much and sent me home with aspirin to take. I have a neuro app on Monday for 'investigations'. DP is away and i'm home alone till tomo :(

I am worried. Does anyone have experience of this?

thinking of you spuddy what happened, did you feel unwell and go into hosi?

twizzlestix · 12/01/2012 18:09

Blimey! Do you have anyone who can look after you until DH comes home? Have no advice to offer but didn't want to leave you hanging.

Thank you for your thoughts - i was at work and felt unwell, the vision in my left eye went double then i lost it completely (i already have optic neuritis in the other eye) so went outside for fresh air and lost feeling all down my left side.

I told a colleague i needed to go to the hospital and someone drove me. They have now sent me home with aspirin and an app on monday for further tests.

It was very frightening. I am worried there is something really wrong with my brain.

Omg how do you feel? Is there anyone close by that can come by so you're not alone? I believe that people can have mild strokes and not even know its happened. Not sure how it affects your pregnancy so hopefully all will be fine and you'll get the all clear on Monday but (and I don't want to frighten you) please be careful and aware that sometimes it can be a warning that a full stroke is to come.

I don't know anyone where i live and neither DP or i have close family. My parents offered to come up but i didn't need the extra stress. Sadly I don't have any friends at all.

Feeling sorry for myself :(

Do you mean a mini stroke? I know my DH is a man so obviously won't have been pregnant but he had one a few years ago. He woke up one morning with no vision in one part of his good eye (he already has impaired sight in one eye). He is now on aspirin for life (you can get the75mg size in Tesco etc), he also had loss of sensation in one arm. After several tests in hospital he was diagnosed with a TIA, he has regained some vision and is monitored regularly but hasn't had a recurrence.

I feel a bit worried about you being home alone Spuddy - is there a neighbour or someone you could ask to keep an eye out for you, or that you could contact if you feel unwell again before your DP gets home?

Did you get CT scan in hospital? this must have been such an awful shock for you. Chances are you'll be fine this evening, but look after yourself and get back to hospital if you get similar symptoms!

Spuddybean · 12/01/2012 18:42

Thank you all. I'm sure i'll be fine. I will go back to the hospital is i feel funny again.

I already lost my vision in my right eye in Dec - which i haven't regained yet and am waiting for VEPs test. So when this went i was terrified.

Yes hell that must be what it was.

Sorry to hear that. I had a stroke one month before I conceived, lost left side of body for a few months but all ok now. I found out I was heterozygous for factor 5 leiden, blood clotting disorder so on heparin injections in pregnancy. Might be worth seeing your gp and asking for referral to an obstetrician to check things for you? All the best.
