Upset tummy with morning sickness?

I think my MS started yesterday at 6+1. Just a slight feeling of nausea. Since last night, I have had an upset tummy though- no sickness but problems in the other direction. (sorry TMI!) Is this part of morning sickness?

Yesterday I ate toast and orange juice, snickers bar, monster munch (Yeah, diet not great, I know!), feta and roast veg for lunch, chocolate cake with a bit of cream from a cafe and veg lasagne with hard cheese for dinner and cordial to drink. Surely nothing that could have caused food poisoning.

Help!

It's hard to rule on the possibility of food poisoning -- it really depends on the hygiene and so on surrounding all those things. However, my first trimester sickness certainly got me from both ends!

I had an upset tummy quite often with morning sickness, and to be honest I have had pretty, ahem, loose bowels throughout pregnancy! Still in the third trimester I have days where I pretty much have diareah, but it comes and goes.

It did worry me initially, but I was told by my doctor that some women get loose bowel movements and other constipation, both can be normal. I've found more of my friends have had more IBS type symptoms during pregnancy that constipation, to be honest.

Having said that, I did have the odd tummy upset in the first tri that I think WAS caused by food (I had to do a lot of travel for work and was eating in hotels etc. abroad). It was always over quickly though and never lasted more than a day. Again the doctor said not to worry - unless the diareah is dehydrating you and there aren't any other symptoms, it's unlikely to do mum or baby harm.

If it continues go and see you GP though.

Hope that helps!

Thanks both for the replies. Feel much better now actually. Hope it won't be a regular fixture though!

Glad you're feeling better! Mine is still continuing, intermittently, at 21 weeks, but I'd rather this than constipation. HotPinkGingham has reminded me though that I definitely had one food-related incident early on, the only time I was really sick, and it didn't fit my pregnancy nausea pattern at all. In pregnancy you are more likely to be ill from things that usually wouldn't affect you.

In both my pg (I'm 26 weeks with numbers 2&3) I've had bad diarrhoea plus bad vomiting all first trimester, and until 16 weeks this time. I saw the gp in both pregnancies due to being dehydrated with the vomiting, and it seems its quite common. And then this time I moved seamlessly into constipation!!! Very unfair ;-)
