Had gush of leakage at 20 weeks, found my little girls is in less fluid than she should be for her lungs to develop. My consultant is hoping my body will produce more fluid for the girl, which after reading on the internet this can happen. Has anyone else had similier problems.

So sorry to hear Mrsallcock, you must be so worried.

I had a hind water leak at 27 weeks, and was induced with ds1 at 34 weeks. All went well, and he is now 5!
In my case the main risk was infection, but I believe you do produce more fluid as the baby grows. I had a steroid injection when I had my 'gush' to speed up the lung development.
Nobody told me, but with a hind water leak, you can lose more fluid each time the baby moves, and sort of squeezes it out iykwim. Has the consultant also told you to monitor your temperature etc?

Will be keeping everything crossed for you.

Yes my consultant kept asking if the leakage had settled down and if I felt ill at all which I do not but now after reading I understand you can be at risk of infection, when your liquar (amnio) fluid leaks. My midwife at the hospital has said that we remake the fliud daily so as long as I do not leak again or untill the baby is much more developed then hopefully should be okay.

There was a lady on here a while ago, BadNails I believe, and her waters went at 23 weeks. She ended up having her DD at 26 or 27 weeks if I remember correctly. I'll try and find her thread.

You could also do a search on here for "PROM".

Here it is! BadNails got a lot of support on there and a lot of info was suggested. Hope it's of use to you and BadNails doesn't mind me posting it.
