Im really craving plaIn, crunchy savoury snacks at the moment. Anyone got any tips for something more healthy than Hula Hoops?!

I've been eating twiglets and water biscuits with hoummous/guacamole, also craving savoury snacks atm... :)

MrsHoarder · 11/01/2012 13:14

Wholemeal toast? Peanuts (if you aren't avoiding them), wholemeal cracker thingies (can't remember the name)...

bagelmonkey · 11/01/2012 13:18

Carrot sticks, raw peppers & celery with dips.

bagelmonkey · 11/01/2012 13:18

And breadsticks.

I'm enjoying wotsits several times a day Blush. If I can't now, when can I? Grin

scarletforya · 11/01/2012 13:20

iklboo · 11/01/2012 13:22

Walkers Sunbites are nice (a few flavours to choose from as well as salted).
Water biscuits
Morrisons Vegetable Crackers (no, honest) with hoummous or Philly

PoppyS34 · 11/01/2012 13:36

oh, i forgot mini cheddars...

keely027 · 11/01/2012 14:13

this is so nice. buy cut washed kale in the veg aisle and then bake in oven gas 4 for about 10 minutes. crunches up a treat and amazingly good for you and full of iron. dont add any oil or it goes soggy:(

joymaker · 11/01/2012 14:19

keely what does it taste like when it's cooked? I ask because I'm off tastes like greens cabbage sprouts, but wonder if it could taste something like seaweed (iyswim?) it sounds mightily healthy

bagelmonkey · 11/01/2012 14:27

I like the sound of the crispy kale if it's anything like the green crispy stuff you get with Chinese takeaway.

Magnumwhite · 11/01/2012 14:28

Snack a jacks. have eaten hundreds of packets so far this pregnancy

bagelmonkey · 11/01/2012 14:28

Ryvita are plain, crunchy & savoury too. Loads of different flavours.
This threat has seriously got me snacking!

bagelmonkey · 11/01/2012 14:29

Thread, not threat.

indicababy · 11/01/2012 14:31

crackers and cheese, sunbites, cashew nuts, but if hula hoops is what you want then have hula hoopsGrin

UsedToBikeAndRunAndSki · 11/01/2012 14:34

My 12 week old DD is built almost entirely of Mini Cheddars and Babybels.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 11/01/2012 14:38

There are loads of crispbread type things that are much nicer than that name makes them sound! For example, the Food Doctor does a yummy type with rye flour and caraway and fennel seeds for flavouring ? easily nice enough to eat on their own (although even better spread with avocado or cream cheese). Also oatcakes ? Nairns do cheese ones as well as (I think) poppy-seed ones or somesuch.

earlyriser · 11/01/2012 14:39

Oooooh if you can get hold of plain poppadoms (uncooked) -try asian grocers/world food aisle at the supermarket-bung one in the micro for 30 secs and you have a lovely crunchy snack. It is huge and comes in at just under 30 cals. Dunk in salsa sauce for extra flavour.

vix1980 · 11/01/2012 14:44

I cant believe nobody's mentioned my saviour found in tesco - Cheese twists (breadsticks) and cheese and chill dip, only the tesco 1 though the asda one is too watery! if that doesn't do it cracker bread with dairylea.

whenskiesaregrey · 11/01/2012 14:46

Nachos...mmm not healthy, but nice!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 11/01/2012 14:48

Poppadoms in the microwave! i had no idea you could get such a thing.

keely027 · 11/01/2012 16:06

i found it tastes quite nutty when baked :) try it, really boosts the immune system and its like £1 a huge bag

earlyriser · 11/01/2012 16:09

They have to be the uncooked ones lady and keep an eye on them as they can burn if in too long!

keely027 · 11/01/2012 16:11

joymaker: when i was in early preg state i too went off greens. i found if you freeze kale and then put a big handful in smooty maker with cup of frozen blue berries and cup of orange juice. you couldnt taste the kale at all. was like drinking blueberry smootie...sooo yummy and uncooked you didnt loose any vitamins at all and no soggy greens to face :)

keely027 · 11/01/2012 16:11

smootie maker :) not smooty maker hahaha
