Breasts leaking at 18 weeks?

Is this normal? I was in bed last night and discovered a wet patch on my top. I heard that breasts sometimes leak colostrum but I thought it was only at the end of the pregnancy - I am 18 weeks. Is it likely to be leaking colostrum or something else?

I leaked from really early on i think before 20 weeks had quite a lot between 20 - 32 weeks but now at 37 seems to have all but stopped. Nothing to worry about and doesn't have any effect on milk supply after baby.

Thanks, that's helpful.

I had colostrum from 11/12 weeks with DD and I produced milk for her as normal after a few days, I stopped BF her at 7w and then rather oddly ended up still producing milk/colostrum ever since (only if I try to though, I've never 'leaked'. She's 22mo now and I'm 28w with DC2.

Fliss, do you mean after a few days after birth, or after a few days after you started having colostrum?

The milk came in a few days after birth. Milk production is triggered by hormonal changes caused by the delivery of the placenta so actual milk shouldn't come in until after baby arrives (unless you're already breastfeeding in which case your milk is already being produced!)

No, not breastfeeding (it's my first, hence all the silly questions :)). thanks!
