why is ventilated matteress so bad?

in my bounty book they say dont buy a ventilated matress (with holes) as you cant keep it clean. of course thats the one I have already bought. am i missing something here? i thought it was just matress and sheets...it's not like you can wash a mattress any how unless it's plastic ...so confused

i have no idea why. i had a ventilated one with a cover on it from john lewis. even if it did not have the cover it would have a sheet over it. sorry, i'm stumped! i

if baby is sick on it and it can't be wiped off then it could soak into the mattress and create toxins. A waterproof sheet over the top will be fine.
