Nuchal test tomorrow - awake and worrying

Had scan at 9 weeks as thought I was further along. All looked fine for that date. Told a few people our news because I was so excited. However only having nuchal scan tomorrow. Had good pregnancy so far and lying here thinking that maybe I've been too lucky. DH told me I'm being ridiculous and has gone straight to sleep.

In the same boat as you, have my nuchal scan tomorrow, this will be my first scan.

Very nervous, can't sleep, oh the joys! :)

Rhinestone · 09/01/2012 22:51

Me too! NT tomorrow.

No advice, just know how you feel and I'm worried too. Completely normal I imagine.

Hi to both of you. I hope you don't take this the wrong way but am glad I'm not the only one! As my nickname suggests I'm 36 so feel like I'm starting from a high risk place already.

Good luck too. I am also 'over 35' and is my first. Thinking of you both.

i had the same worries being geriatric 37 am 18 weeks with first as it was hiding in baby world for 4 years! the scan was amazing and after it i felt a sense of calm, its just the waiting thats difficult but what will be and all that, so worry not and enjoy the day tomorrow.

Funny story...took all the stress out of my nuchal scan (many years ago). Went into room and woman about to do the scan was looking thoroughly freaked out....I'm thinking...oh no she's just had to give someone bad news...well it turned out to be unexpected news. Woman having her scan right before me was overdue with her child and having a scan and had just discovered she was having a boy, having been told at her 20 week scan that she was having a girl and had bought and decorated everything in sight in pink!! Poor scan technician some how got the blame for everything even though she hadn't done the incorrect scan!

I hope everyone's NT went well today. I had mine on 19 December and am 36 and first pregnancy. It was fab seeing our baby as I sort of didn't really believe it was in there until then Blush. It's worth remembering that our odds for T21 are 1:270 ish based on our age alone, which can sound high when you consider some young mums have odds of 1: thousands! But then also consider that odds are about 1:30 for a 45 year old mum. If any of you are having the combined test (with bloods too) they take NT and bloods and age into consideration too. Maybe it's just me but I had no idea there was so much to it! Blush

Just thought I'd update on my NT test. After the bloods (done last week) and scan I was given odds of 1:3386. I'm so relieved. The 50 minute delay to see the consultant didn't help my nerves but I can get a proper night's sleep tonight. Hope everyone else has good news too and thank you for your messages last night.

Congratulations, that's really good news! :)

I had the dating bit of my scan done but they couldn't do the nuchal measurement as the baby wouldn't lay in the right position so I have to go back next week to try again.

Rhinestone · 11/01/2012 04:23

All good with me. No blood test results yet but the NT scan showed that all was ok.

Glad it went well Ftm, good luck for next week AIW85.

kellzi · 11/01/2012 07:57

Congrats. I am 41 and 7 weeks so have it all to come. Good luck next week 85 x

That's great news Firsttimemum36, really happy for you. I got my amnio results today (all clear) Grin, and that was after odds of 1:42.
Good luck next week AllI Want85, my baby kept pushing its head backwards during my NT scan, which kept squishing the NT, thus making it thicker than it really was, the sonographer was really struggling. I do wonder if that is what made my odds as bad as they were? I'm glad they've given you the opportunity to go back and try again.
Good luck on your blood results Rhinestone

Firsttimemum36 · 11/01/2012 21:43

We all must have awkward babies because we were in my scan for quite a whole while the consultant tried to get the baby to move into the right position - stubborn like its Daddy!

Good luck AIW85 and Rhinestone with the remaining results.

Congratualtions AM - that's awesome news!
