Getting a booking in appointment is proving so difficult

First went to doctor in early December who referred me to hospital. Two weeks later get letter from hospital asking me to ring them to book an appointment. Phone them and while on phone ask what to do about booking in appointment and they say midwife will contact me.

Then on Thursday a letter telling me to contact midwife on a certain number. I call it and get told to call another number which will be answered between 9-10 or 4-5 on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays. No answers on Friday. This morning there's at least an answer machine so leave a message.

Finally got a call back at 4.50 today from a lady who tells me I need to phone the midwife on her mobile for an appointment. I ask for the mobile number and get told "we can't give that out without permission from the midwife. However she is off work until Friday so we will contact you between 9-10am next Monday to let you know the number.

I said I needed an appointment by January 30th as i have my first scan then and she sounded rather doubtful.

Honestly I'm going to be filling in my green notes during labour at this rate!! And what if the midwife decides I'm not worthy of her mobile number - do I just never do a booking in?

Rant over - so much for avoiding stress Grin

Do you have a midwife at your surgery, or know if there are any community MWs you could see?

This is the community midwife at the surgery - apparently this is how I have to contact her. I had her last time I was pregnant and she was lovely but I never remember her being so hard to get hold of.

Do you know what day(s) she is normally there? Might be worth going down there and trying to grab her between appointments (mine would be fine with this, not sure if it would be appropriate anywhere else Wink )

Failing that, leave a note for her under the door/with reception and see if that helps?

Mind you, mine was elusive as hell until I was about 10 weeks, then brilliant - maybe she's just buried.

Finally!

I got her telephone number yesterday morning, phoned and left a message and she called me back about half an hour ago to make an appointment. She still sounds as lovely as I remember her from when I had DD. She sounded stressed though as apparently she's doing a training course 3 days a week at the moment but is still expected to deal with her normal full time case load
