How do I know what's going on in there?!

I'm nearly 9 weeks pg. Not seen mw yet- that's next week's excitement. Other than the original BFP (2 tests done), how do I know it's not a missed miscarriage situation? I felt sick for one day just after Christmas, then diarrhoea for 3 days. Since then, no sickness feeling at all. Sore nipples. Rounder tummy and stretching sensation that comes and goes- today it's just shapeless fat, which is unsurprising given my eating habits over Christmas. Is there a way of knowing before scans if the baby is OK, if I'm not getting morning sickness?

Nope, 'fraid not!

Chances are everything's absolutely fine though. It's perfectly normal to have symptoms that come and go, or even not to have any. I was never sick, for instance. The sore nipples and intermittent stretching are good signs, and pretty much sum up my sensations during the first 5 months of each pregnancy!

I'm sure you're grand - statistically speaking you're much more likely to be okay than not.

Unfortunately no. Not what any of us want to hear but we all have to wait.
I wish I could have CCTV 24/7 in there just to make sure!

I had a missed miscarriage in October (found out at 12 wk scan) and now am 5 weeks. Its driving me nuts not knowing anything. Not finding midwives and doctors particularly helpful or sympathetic either.

I would count yourself lucky that you aren't puking everywhere!

Best wishes!

I didn't get any morning sickness whatsoever. I'm now 40+3! Just a case of keeping calm and waiting for the scan I'm afraid.

All the best Grin

Talking to DH yesterday and we wondered if we could invent a kind of oven door for the belly to see how the baby is doing... we didn't get very far.

sorry no way to know i am afraid. i have had an early scan so i am a bit reassured but that's it really.

Short of paying for regular private scans (if that's within your reach) you just have to take it on good faith that everything is ok if you have no pain or spotting/bleeding.

Hey, if it makes you feel any better, you could always indulge . Prawns are allowed, you know? Grin

I created that nickname while eyeing up various lunch options. What I'm REALLY missing are Bloody Marys and single malt whiskey :-)

Today I've had some spotting (not much), and also aches. I know the sign to watch out for is cramping, but - this sounds ridiculous- I don't really know what that is as always had v easy pain-free periods. Mild aches similar to what I'm getting now were as bad as things got. Don't want MW to think I'm mental high-maintenance type.
