labour when you have a hernia

Morning ladies, hope you can offer me some advice as I'm starting to panik a little. I'm 36w3 days and have a hernia above my bellybutton about the size of a satsuma. It sticks out and can be very painful if baby knocks it when he's wriggling around. I've told my DR who said it shouldn't cause me any problems throuhhout my pregnancy and I simply need to put up with it and have an op a few months after birth. My only concern is that when I'm sick now or (tmi sorry) having a poo and straining I can really feel it pulling on my hernia and it really hurts.

Has anyone else had a similar thing and if so how did you cope in labour? I have a check up with my MW tomorrow so I'm going to mention it to her. I didn't want to have a section but if I'm going to be in agony from my very first contraction I don't know if there are any other options.

Hope you can help ladies x

Thanks for your answer Gem. Hopefully everything will be ok. I'm seeing the MW tomorrow so hopefully she can help put my mind at rest
