eeek headache started yesterday when i got up, it is driving pain into head, worse when I bend down type so think it is sinusey, seemed to go off a bit in the day and last night was mean and kept me awake. does this sound like sinus head to you? it is only on left hand side. bloods were all fine at 13 weeks (now 18) should I go gp or call mw?

could be a migrain have you ever had one?
do you have any other symptoms???x

surfmama · 09/01/2012 08:43

thanks ems - hmmm feel a bit sick and can't look at light so yes it does feel like it might be. I did get a few headaches like this when I used to run (seemed to get overheated very attractive) I just worried about PE but think it is more likely to be sinus/migraine

Unlikely to be PE at 18wks, but worth ringing a MW for reassurance, she can then tell you to go to GP if needed.
Do you have any other symptoms like flashing light, dropping stuff, black patches, nausea, dizziness/disorientation. Could be a migraine, though my symptoms are usually all on the right. During pg it's only been a headache with flashing lights and some photosensitivity, so you don't need a full-blown aura.
Could be a sinus problem also.
Meanwhile, drink plenty. More than you're comfy with TBH. If it is dehydration then this will help (obv.) and help prevent future reaccurance.

it sounds more like migrain or dehydration to me! try paacetmol poss codine safe in pregnancy and lots and lits of fluid. may be worth getting checked.
ems x

headache ladies how long do they last for? i did get sleep last night and head not banging but still not right and laid up on sofa still. day 3 now, also do migraines/pain in general raise bp? my heart goes out to all who suffer migraines blurgh

Headaches and migraines can last DAYS (my pre-pg migraines can last weeks in terms of pain)...but if it's been more than a few hours and paracetamol isn't doing the job, or you start getting other symptoms, it's always worth getting checked over, or at least phoning MW for some reassurance.
Yes, pain will naturally raise your BP, but it's a chicken and egg thing, which came first. Any raise should be investigated, especially if you're anywhere near the 140/90 rule. General increases should be investigated too, even if you just get a diagnosis of migraine like me, they may want to monitor you slightly more closely.
Just remember to keep your fluids up...even if you don't feel like it.

thanks Oeisha yes back tomorrow for bp. hmmm i am only 18 weeks so they have said it's probably not pe. hate taking anything really so just sitting feeling miserable (slams soup in front of completely nonunderstanding parner)

. I know what you mean. Paracetamol is fine though. It's much better than you releasing all the stress hormones. I still don't like taking it, as frankly I'm used to having a sore head, and should just be able to mum-up and deal, but MWs keep telling me off for NOT taking paracetamol...!

surfmama · 10/01/2012 15:19

okay taking it now!
