Cramping and spotting - 7 weeks pregnant

Hi everyone,

new to this forum and not posted yet but as it's late I don't know where else to turn! I have been experiencing mild - painful cramping for the past couple of weeks, on and off. Today had a bad episode - under a minute, but now have a dull ache, very much like period pains. Just been to the toilet and have faint pink spotting. I have called NHS Direct and am waiting for a doctor from my GP Surgery to call me back. I'm nearly 8 weeks pregnant.

Any advice whilst I wait??

What you describe sounds like when the embryo is bedding down into the womb, there's a proper word for it that i've forgotten "nesting" ?? Anyway, the cramping feeling usually dissapears by itself (i actually used to double over in agony!) the "pink" spotting too sounds like normal early pregnancy symptoms.

Im sure you'll be okay, wish you all the best at the doctor's and a good pregnancy.

The cramping is called "implantation". I hope this is what it is and you're okay.

I had this at 9 weeks, it was my 2nd pregnancy, so was a bit of a shocker. It was as you andgunz describe, a low dull ache with bleeding. The was nothing to worry about. I had a scan at the hospital the next day as the spotting stopped but I did have a couple of large clotty blobby bits. I had a very small tear in the wall of my uterus.

Try not to worry and push to have a scan ASAP to put your mind at ease.

The doctor just called me and has advised me to ring the hospital early in the morning to arrange a scan, which should happen tomorrow or the following day. Fingers crossed everything's ok - I've just had the daunting task of telling my parents today!
