I'm pregnant and confused about dates

Could you wise ones tell me what's going on I'm really convinced that this is bad news

LMP nov 5th
Tested dec 10th and got faint +ve
Tests have got stronger over time

Assumed I was now 8+ weeks

Had scan this week that makes me 7+5 now and not 9 weeks tomorrow like I calculated from LMP

Does it make sense ??

You'll find that by the time you have your 12 week scan your EDD will have changed again. They brought me forward by 4 days after my one.

Is dating not accurate before 12 weeks then?

You will originally go by lmp date but scans may change that obviously by measurements. My baby was 3 days over my scan date but 1 day before lmp. Mw will go with what your 12 week scan states.

You probably ovulated later than day 14. The LMP method of calculating dates assumes you ovulate on day 14, but a lot of women are later or earlier so it isn't as accurate as a dating scan.

I'm pregnant now, and by LMP my due date was July 12th, but because I knew when I'd ovulated (day 20), I calculated it to be July 18th. Just had my dating scan which confirmed I was exactly right!

Hi I have had early scans with my 3rd pregnancy and my dates changed at 12weeks also midwife told me its very hard to get accurate measurements so early. Again 4th pregnancy I'm about 9+2 by early scan and different midwife has said could change at 12week again and gave me same reason to early 2 do measurements. In my last scan sonographer got 2 measurements one was saying 8weeks other was 8weeks 4days so it will change at 12 weeks. Hth

Ok it doesn't seem to be very accurate then. She just clicked on the fuzzy picture and said oh your now 7 weeks 3 days when I thought I was 8 weeks 4 days

Which worried me as I thought maybe the embryo isn't thriving or what ever

we didn't have sex that much last month

I must have been very very early to get a +ve result on dec 10th if I'm only 7 weeks 4 days now

I've plugged your dates into a pregnancy calculator and I think probably what's happened is:

You ovulated late, about day 24 (roughly Nov 29)

You tested at about 11 days past ovulation. So yes, considered early testing, but definitely not unheard of to get a positive test 3 days before expected period (if you have a standard luteal phase of 14 days).

As for not much sex, it only takes once!

There was a 2 weeks difference between my EDD by LMP and my EDD by scan, so I wouldn't worry! Unless you had periods like clockwork, it apparently happens a lot.

I wouldn't worry too much, the baby can turn up anytime between 37 and 43 weeks. The only time I would be concerned would be if the scan date showed an earlier EDD than expected, as they may start suggesting induction if you went "overdue" eg, they thought you were 40+10, from scan dates, but you thought you were 39+3.

Similar happened to me. We we about to start fertility treatment so we were charting which days we had sex on. I KNEW the exact date that I would've conceived because of this and knew when I went for an early scan I'd be 8 weeks. They said I was only 7 though. Fast forward to my dating scan, they thought I'd be 12, I knew I'd be 13... I was bang on 13 weeks.

I think it's quite hard to tell when they are so tiny.

I have my 20 week scan on Wednesday, looking forward to my measurements then. x

Hi I was 11+1 at my 12 week scan, told to go back 2 weeks later where i was apparently 14+2, then at my 20 week scan everything was around 19 weeks lol, Baby will come when its ready,

Last time i knew my dates and at early scan and 12 week scan i was given the due date i had calculated (16th), 20 week scan everything measured around 22+ weeks, baby came 4 days late 7lb 4oz.

I wouldn't worry you will probably find it all changes at your 12 week scan :)
