Newly pregnant after hormone issues (and panicking)

I posted this in conception earlier but I was hoping for a bit more attention here...sorry if that's the wrong thing to do.

I'm sitting here with a Clear Blue digital test that says 1-2 weeks pregnant.

I'm having trouble believing this. I've been feeling a little odd recently and tested the other day "not pregnant", kept feeling odd and did another two tests this afternoon - a cheap one (shows a maybe ghost of a line under light) and a digital one that said yes.

I can't believe it as five years ago my periods stopped out of the blue. After three years of tests, the doctors were flummoxed (none of the usual causes like PCOS) and I conceived eventually on Clomid.

In November I had a blood test to see where my hormones were and oestrodial came back incredibly low. Doctor said I wasn't ovulating and referred me to fertility clinic. They tried giving me provera to induce a withdrawal bleed as I hadn't had a period since the birth of DS. Nothing. They said my oestrogen was probably too low and I would have to go on the pill and withdraw to try and get more oestrogen in my system.

I'm due to see the consultant in two weeks. The only thing that has changed is that I gave up breastfeeding my 16mo old three weeks ago. No sign of period. Could this be enough to kickstart everything?

More importantly, if I am pregnant which would be my dream absolutely, will the provera I took with no bleed mean I am more likely to miscarry? I had to take progesterone supplements for the first three months of my last pregnancy.

When should I tell the doctor? Should I have extra tests given my previous hormone issues? Or do I just wait and see if it sticks around for a few weeks?

Help - if it is not clear I am feeling a bit mental. I am so so keen for a baby that I feel like maybe I willed the result on the test and it isn't true!

Any advice or just kind words would be much appreciated.

Congratulations!

I would not be surprised if the breastfeeding had an effect, some of my friends failed to get their periods back (no ovulation) until after they stopped breastfeeding.

The provera is a form of progesterone, I can't see how no withdrawal bleed mean that you are any more likely to miscarry, it may have even helped with getting you pregnant with helping thicken the uterine lining?????

I would think it would be a good idea to go fairly quickly to doctor to get back on the progesterone if you took it last time, just to help support the pregnancy.

Conrats again on your lovely surprise.

Thank you galway. I'm going to call the doctor on Monday and fertility clinic and ask for advice about the progesterone.

It would seem congratulations maybe in order:)

clearblue digital are very hard to convince that you are pregnant especially in the middle of the day! So if you got a pregnant I would say you are, and you probably only just are which is why you got the not pregnant result on another day,

it would be a good thing to contact your gp etc on Monday.

Congrats again Grin
