maternity dress for a wedding

My brother gets married in April. All being well with the pregnancy I'll be 20 weeks with dc2. When I was pg with dc1 I was in maternity clothes by 12 weeks as I was already showing!

Anyone know of anywhere to buy dresses to wear to a wedding? As it's my brother's I want something really special.

Thanks

Congrats Nearlymum! Also be interested in responses to your post. I will 37 weeks when my MIL gets married.

Depending on how big your bump is by 20 weeks, you might get away with a stretchy non-maternity dress. I wore a Coast dress I already had to a charity do when I was 17.5 weeks with a visible bump. It was tight-fitting but was made of stretchy material. Then again, if what I've read is true, and if my bump is anything to go by!!, you show quicker with your second, so maybe not. I wouldn't feel as comfortable in that dress now at almost 23 weeks, but that's because I think I've expanded in other directions now!

Keep your options open when shopping though, as I wouldn't even have considered wearing that dress until DH suggested I try it on.

Seraphine have some lovely dresses in and a sale on at the moment. I found that their sizes came up quite big though - size 12 pre-preg and had to swap the 12/14 dress I had for a 10/12. Lovely dress though :-)

How about this?

(I'd get this moved to Style and Beauty BTW)

April wedding, how lovely. I'm going to a wedding in Feb and will be 36 weeks. Judging by bump size now I will be huge by then so am wondering how late I can leave it before buying something so that I can be sure of fitting into it.

I've been looking at Isabella Oliver - not bad prices in the sale. My friend wore one of their clingy style dresses to a christening recently and looked amazing.

I've seen some lovely things on ASOS maternity - very pretty. I tried a few dresses on in Topshop maternity too, they didn't look that nice on me but would have done for a wedding...

www.tiffanyrose.com they have some really gorg dresses. It's a bit pricey so depends on your budget but I'm sure you'l find something special Smile

Yummymummyyobe1 · 06/01/2012 15:44

Have you tried places like John Lewis and Debenhams they usually have some nice bits in. xx

Nevercan · 06/01/2012 15:53

I got a lovely flattering one in mothercare which had plenty of room for expansion...

I wore this one for a wedding: www.isabellaoliver.com/maternity-clothes/uk/100/mat-sale/dresses/DR116.html?newcat=2&actn=changecatalog&cc=y

I was quite small at the time but it had tonnes of room for future bump growth.

Tickledonion, I've just ordered four dresses from tiffanyrose to try for a wedding and the grace black dress is one of them. I am a 10 normally though so ordered the 10-12 but if the one I've ordered is too big then I'd be interested in buying!
