Anyone else getting a wonky bump....?

I am 17 weeks and my left side is definately a lot more rounder and harder than my right (which is a bit round but also quite soft.) Has anyone else got this, and will it start to even out soon?!

I think it's down to where the baby is lying. If it's on your left, there's going to be nothing but fluid on the right until baby gets bigger.

My bump has been constantly wonky throughout Sloan to the way baby chooses to lie! At 40+ weeks now, it often looks like baby is trying to make an escape out the side door Grin

I see. I didn't think it would be yet big enough to be so obvious as to where it was lying but clearly I was wrong!

Don't forget, at 17w your baby is going to be about 15cm from head to foot (11cm head to bum) - that's quite a sizeable mass to have sitting in one side of your uterus :)

mine always sits to my right under my right rib resting on my right hip with arms and legs over my left side so i looked a bit wonky until 30 weeks now at 37 just look mental his bum sticks out in a huge lump under my right ribs and my left side is quite flat.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 05/01/2012 19:33

Yes, even now at 40 weeks she's snuggled nicely on the left hand side. The right side is nice and flabby Hmm and the left is like the rock of Gibraltar sticking up. It can't possibly stretch any more.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 05/01/2012 19:36

Yep, was very wonky. Despite all my best efforts DS was insistent on being on the right side with bum sticking out. Possibly not what you want to hear, but I'm still a bit wonky Confused

I have times in the day when my bump isn't symmetric and our DS1 Harry likes to be on my left hand side (mainly in the morning, I think this is because I sleep on my left).

I also find that there are days when Harry makes my bump look lower down than others again in the morning.

xx

I'm 21w with twins so you'd think it would be more or less symmetrical but no, they're both on the right hand side, with twin 1 sitting on the far right. Twin 2 is doing the pregnancy equivalent of hogging the middle of the bed...

MrsHuxtable · 06/01/2012 15:32

The hard bit is the baby's back.

Yummymummyyobe1 · 06/01/2012 15:42

I have discovered a good bump rub tends to make Harry move and then my bump is more symmetric.

Although it then sets Harry off and he wriggles non stop all day. xx

definitely, sometimes I get an extra bump on my bump... I think that it's DS's bottom :o

I'm 37 weeks and my bump's been much bigger on one side all the way through - had scan last week and ultrasound lady said he likes it on the right doesn't he! He's always had that preference but now seems to have his bum wedged firmly in place. Was hilarious watching him shift/wiggle from one side to the other (usually when I was in the bath) earlier on (not sure he has room for this manouvre now). He did it once when I was having dinner at my friend's house and she spotted it and was like BLIMEY what was that?!!!
buonasera am fascinated to hear about your twins! LOL that T2 is hogging middle of the bed :-)

buonasera · 10/01/2012 11:12

monkeymamma, I've told my OH I think twin 2 has picked up some traits from his side, as he's a terrible bed hogger! I was thinking of putting them in the same cot when they're little but maybe twin 1 will be glad of being able to stretch out for once :-)

Ha ha twin 1 has just nudged me in the ribs... maybe that was a yes...
