Got a BFP yesterday...but I've been bleeding for 5 days

I'm waiting for an appt with the GP at midday. I've rung the EPAU and they said they need a referral from the GP so don't just turn up.

My period was due on the 31st and I thought it came then but the blood has been different, starting brown and sticking then progressing to blood stained mucousy type stuff and through to dark red blood but nowhere near as much as with a normal period which is why I tested. Couldn't believe it was a BFP!

I know bleeding in early pregnancy isn't rare but I don't think this looks good. Sad

Hi Rue - not much I can say to help but I didn't want to read and run.

I have had bleeding at about 5-6 weeks both with early miscarriage, and with my current pregnancy (I'm now 29 weeks). In both cases it varied in colour from brown to red but wasn't really heavy - with this pregnancy it stopped and with the MCs sadly didn't.

Some women do just bleed in early pregnancy and as you say it is pretty common, so it could be normal for you. Try to be as positive as you can. At five weeks pregnant it's usually too early to see much on a scan so don't automatically panic if you go to the EPU and they can't see a heartbeat - from memory it's unusal to see one before 6 +4 or so.

Best of luck - thinking of you xx

I'm about to leave for the GP now. I'm trying to remain positive but realisitic.
