PREGNANT! while on pill!

Just after any advice really, just before xmas I found out I was pregnant which was a huge shock as I was on the mini pill, after a long talk with dp we decided to keep the baby and its now just started to sink in and we're excited! However today Ive started to panic, could me still taking the pill have done any harm, i have a drs app this week so can book my first midwife appt.
Im guessing I must be about 8 weeks this week and Ive had terrible sickness and horrible streching pains, please reassure me if anyone has been in the same situation so I can relax and enjoy being pregnant! :)

no real advice other than try not to worry, I assume you've stopped the pill now, and if you haven't start taking folic acid then do. Your gp will be able to answer any concerns but for now enjoy the miracle that is your baby :)

Yes stopped taking the pill straight away, yes will get some folic acid today forgot about that. Thank You :)

You'll probably get a scan quite quickly so they can check how far along you are, try not to google too much as it is quite scary, wait and see what the gp says when's your appointment?

It happened to me twice! Was told by gp that it would do no harm to baby. First time I was on the mini pill like you so try not to worry. Dd was perfect. Second time I was off the pill and we got carried away. Took morning after pill straight away but was still pregnant. I was told again there would be no harm and perfect ds2 was born.

Thank you for all your msgs, I have an appt friday although might ring and try and get one earlier as Im free today. Feel less worried now I suppose it happens to alot of people so will forget about it now, just cant wait for the scan now

hi congratulations !, everybody has reassured you anyway, just wanted to let you know i did the same until i was twelve weeks without knowing, still having periods the whole time DS is fine and the pregnancy was also fine hope you enjoy it

Hi I fell pregnant when on pill or between packs not sure with dates and my baby is fine and healthy. Least one of us is LOL

Also there are fair few people who don't know they are pregnant till quite late and have healthy babies after carrying on a normal life style. Hope that calms your worries

hello my sister took morning after pill and I have a strapping 15 year old rugby playing nephew, so quite amazing isn't it. Sounds like your baby was a determined soul and am sure will be quite alright!

happend to me am now 33 weeks and so far so good had morning sickness too wonder if its linked in with pill :S congrats and good luck sure you will be fine x

I took morning after pill and still got pregnant. Was very worried about ectopic pregnancy, but when I spoke to the GP he simply said 'believe me, you would know if it was ectopic as it's very painful'. My DD is now a beautiful 3 year old and I can't believe I even considered not becoming a mummy. :)

I had my drs appt and she reassured me everything is fine and it happens alot and would have done no damage whatsoever, so feel alot better now just annoying as I dont know how many weeks I am and would love to know.

2 of my children were conceived whilst on the pill and 1 was conceived even after taking the morning after pill. My doctor said it happened a lot as well.

No form of pill harms any baby once conceived. Most of the leaflets that come in the packets explain this congratulations :)

I am in similar situation, was on pill and had bad vomitting so was worried I was not covered; I then got emergency contraception.

Still ended up pg! GP said due to time in my cycle I may aswell have eatin a smartie. But I have been worried too as to how it could affect baby - hence my thread!
