Surely 8 weeks is too early and there is another reason I am obsessed by the idea of scrambled egg and gherkins?

can't have it either as dd sick so can't go to shops and no gherkins. Scrambled eggs alone will not hit the spot

Sounds good to me! Most of the combinations I like would probably sound like pregnancy cravings!

I always think that cravings are less 'I really need THAT now' than 'I can't face anything other than THAT now' i.e. you are driven to pickled gherkins in desperation as every other food in the world will make you barf. By that token, they start the minute you feel a little queasy. Though it wasn't until wk36 that I started eating mint shower gel and spraying the windscreen wiper wash because I loved the smell Blush.

Never in my case!

At about 7 weeks I physically needed milk. I would sneak down in the night and glug from the bottle. At 8am I would be outside the shop waiting for it to open with my nose pressed against the glass, salivating slightly and trying not to cry with desperation. It took all my willpower not to glug the stuff in the aisle, moaning with relief. I drank so much milk that dh looked into investing in a cow. It calmed down at about 17 weeks when my morning sickness also disappeared.

Mint shower gel? Did it have to be a particular brand and specification - eg spearmint rather than peppermint or would any variety of the green stuff do?

Don't think its a craving then as did manage eggs alone but I'm desperate for gherkins

At 17 weeks btw I took to lying on the floor in the local deli and insisting they just poured green olives into my mouth until I physically couldn't swallow any more of the things. I don't like olives usually.

Had to be original mint source. I also started eating toothpaste. I had a severe iron deficiency as things turned out so not sure if that was part of it? It did take me by surprise as I'd lived through three months of bizarre eating at the start (ten cheese and tomato sandwiches in one day).
