12 week scan ....

Just need a bit of reassurence, I have my 12 week scan today and not really sure of what to expect. How long does it last ? Do they tell you straight away everything us ok ?

It will take 5-10 minutes. You will be able to see the scan as it is being done, so they will most likely point out things to you eg heartbeat.

No, no wait. The only thing would be if you are having a nuchal with bloods you would have to wait for the odds calculation.
There wont be any wait for information from the scan itself.

I am having the bloods done too but I know I will need to wait a few days for the results. Going to hold off sharing the news until we know everything is ok.

With the bloods I didn't have to wait at the hospital to find out low or high risk, I got a letter in the post the next week. Depends on your hospital though. Here, if there's a problem they ring you after a couple of days, otherwise no news is good news and wait for the letter. If there is a problem during the scan you will find out straight away.

But remember the vast majority of 12 week scans are straightforward, and no problems are found at all. Hopefully you will go away after 10 minutes feeling reassured that you have a lovely healthy growing baby in there.

I think the same happens here. I either get a phone call or a letter depending on good or bad news. Fingers crossed everything will be ok. A stupid question, what am I best wearing ?

mine took about one hour (the little one wouldn't cooperate) and was given the blood test results right away.

Thank you for all your support. I am only 9 weeks pregnant so they couldn't tell much. But what they could see was fine. I have to go back in three weeks for another scan x
