Bleeding at 11 weeks

Hope someone can help. I had a scan at 10 weeks and all was ok. However, started to bleed at 11 weeks. Went to Early Pregnancy Unit and had a scan which showed that everything was ok. However as I had not drunk any water, they used a proble to do an internal scan. That night/next morning I had a much heavier bleed which was bright red. Had a few cramps but nothing major. Does anyone know whether a pregnancy test would show up as negative if I had miscarried? Not sure whether the probe disturbed my bits resulting in the bleed or whether it is something more serious. Any advice anyone??

Hi Snips. I hope you have good news. I know that the urine-based pregnancy tests can show positive after a miscarriage as the hormones take a while to leave the woman's system. However, if you had a scan showing a heartbeat, it was obviously a viable pregnancy at that point in time. Perhaps you miscarried after that scan or, hopefully, your bleeding didnt signify a miscarraige at all. Lots of women bleed, some heavily, when they are pregnant. Good luck.

The exact same thing happenend to me re the bleeding after the 10 week scan and then bleeding on the way home from the hospital after the second scan. They didn't do an internal one though. Both times it looked like I'd been stabbed (there was a lot of bright red blood but no cramps).

I had another scan the following week and the baby was still fine. He's asleep upstairs now and is a strapping 15 month old.

What I'm trying to say is not to worry. They should give you another scan which should put your mind at rest. Hopefully your body will have calmed down and that should be it for the bleeding. I heard some really encouraging stories when I was going through this, it does seem like it's quite a common occurence.

Thanks everyone. It is encouraging. I think I will go to EPU on Friday as will be 12 weeks, and hopefully if the baby is still there, there will be less chance of a miscarriage.
