Please calm me down. Feeling worried about baby :-(

I am 15w+4 and I had a MW appointment when I was 14 weeks. The MW said she would have a go at finding the heartbeat but she couldn't. She didn't seem remotely worried about it at all. Not even a tiny bit. Just said it was still too early and to see her at 16 weeks. So I have an appointment on Thursday.

But since then I have been worrying about it and I am now at the point of panic that something has gone wrong.

I have felt occasional little fluttering type movements but I am not 100% it is the baby moving.

I have a doppler at home and I haven't been able to find the heartbeat with that either but did hear some sort of taps that sound similar to what the MW pointed out as kicks when I was pregnant with DS2.

I still have some symptoms. I need to wee more than usual, getting leg cramps that I only get when pregnant. I have got some heartburn but not as much as I had last week.

We have got a private scan booked for Saturday as DP goes away to work next Tuesday so wouldn't be home for the 20 week scan.

I rang the maternity ward and they just said I could go to the EPAU tomorrow if I want but I don't want to waste their time if I have an appointment to see MW on Thursday anyway.

Please give some help to calm down a bit until Thursday.

If it is causing you stress try and get an earlier appointment, there is nothing worse than worrying. I am sure that everything is fine or the midwife would have been more concerned. They couldn't find my baby's heartbeat either. You will probably not be feeling many movements at this stage anyway. xxx

I rang the maternity ward and my MW has said to go in now so she can try and find the heartbeat. Instead of waiting til tomorrow.

Can I be honest - this is why I think home dopplers are a bad idea, and also why in my area MWs don't even attempt to find a heartbeat before 20 weeks. The stress and worry caused is :(

All is fine! After about 10 scary minutes the baby finally played ball and stayed still long enough to let the MW find the heartbeat.

MW thinks the baby is hiding in my pelvis and that's why it's so hard to find.

Thank you everyone for helping me keep calmish. Smile

Fantastic Smile hope you can feel more reassured now.

My MW can't come today now, as she has been at a birth all night. She said I could go see her team leader at the health centre instead, but as she is my named midwife, I'd rather hold out to see her next week instead.

Tea I'd go to the health centre and just get checked. It's amazing how much better I feel.
